PrusaSlicer - perspective command ('K' key press)

When I press the 'K' key, it does seem to alter the perspective, but I think the effect is reversed.  The near geometry is foreshortened versus the distal geometry?  For persepctive, shouldnt the near lines get longer and the distal shorter?

I am probable missing something here, but figured I'd post to see what others think.

RE:

The view you see when the "effect is reversed" is the default/original view.. I think it called "Orthographic"...

This was discussed at length of many years and it was deemed to be the correct view, widely used in CAD, even though to me I can't see how it useful. If the lines were parallel, I would get it.. But faces get smaller as they get closer, so as you say "the effect is reversed". But apparantly, this type of view is very common in 3D circles and is very useful.

But after much pressure from some users (including myself) they added the "Perspective" view and gave the 'K' shortcut.

So Slicer now toggles between the original view, where, as you say the effect seems reversed (but is absolutely correct according to many CAD experts).. And the newer "perspective" view (where the lines converge to a point in the distance).

I hope this clarifies things.

RE: PrusaSlicer - perspective command ('K' key press)

Incase you are interested, I just found one of my old posts about this which might explain why CAD professionals seem to like the Orthographic camera:
