print increment number
hey there!
my question is , how can i print a serialize number that increment every print.
for example i printed a cube that will be printed 001 on the first one and second one 002 , 003 and so forth .
this is a critical question, i'd like to create face shields for the covid 19 however the face shields /masks should be personalized meaning one mask for one doctor only , to reduce the probability of infecting some one else, since all masks/shields would be printed with the same color, i'd like them to be able to write down each mask to a number to a doctor.

You would have to create individual model/stl files with the number in the model and then load each and every model separately and print as each model would be different (due to the different number).
There is no way of automating something like that at this time.
A simpler way would just be to get a soldering iron/pyrograph pen and melt the serial number into each one after printing by hand.

which is kind crazy to do manually if u want to print out hundreds fast ..

Well doing it with a soldering iron is quicker than altering each and every model and then saving all those versions and then loading them to your printer and then selecting each one.
Basically the printers are dumb, they cant do anything like that.
You could possibly do that if your design software was parametric (something like Openscad) as that could generate all the models for you. Then if you were sending them using something like octoprint to send the files to the printer then you could almost do what you want.
Still quicker and easier with a hot metal instrument. I suppose if you had a laser cutter you could use one of those to cut the numbers but I wouldn't be wanting to cut plastic like petg or pla that way and the part would have to be flat.
KISS (keep it simple stupid) works. Or even simpler use a permanent marker to put an id tag on it.

You would need to create a unique model for each item, it can't be done in the slicer.
I'm not a doctor, but I would just write my name on it. KISS.
Commercially, serial numbers are applied using adhesive label, ink jet printing, or laser etching. Only for low volume/high value items would you embed a unique code into the design of the product.

No slicer can do that. Slicers convert models to gcode. Some can do a few extra tasks like cutting a model or adding/removing bits using modifiers but no. You are talking about modifying the model for each and every print, that’s the domain of a cad program not a slicer. Most cad programs won’t even do it, at least not automatically.
