SUGGESTION: Prusa Connect File Management Features Needed

I just ran into the "Forbidden Storage capacity exceeded" issue... Tried to debug, then Googled it. Understood that the storage was full. Deleted dozens of large files from the printer. Still not fixed. Googled some more... Understood that the storage on Prusa Connect was full. Went to Prusa Connect and deleted several large files from there. Still not fixed... Poked around and discovered that deleting from the normal UI in Prusa Connect does not remove them from Prusa Connect. Found the file list... Looked for a way to delete all... Can select all, but not then delete them. So, spent 20+ minutes deleting all the files one by one.

If you had trouble reading that, imagine how much it sucked for me to do it. This was a terrible used experience for an "everybody" issue. Literally every person who uses Prusa Connect will run into this at some time if they use their printers much.

SUGGESTIONS:

  1. Need a better, more helpful error message. (Hopefully only temporarily, as users should not run into this with other improvements.)
  2. Need a preference that is obvious to new users, and easily switched on a per-print basis, for whether or not to retain the file on Prusa Connect after transfer to the printer.
  3. Need a delete operation that works on all selected (checked) files.
  4. Need (possibly as an option) to delete from Prusa Connect when using "Delete from Printer" from Prusa connect. Meaning, if it auto-stores the file on transfer to the printer, it should at least have the option to auto-delete on delete from the printer.

  1.

This would be better raised on the Prusa Connect Git Hub Page

Hey, appreciate you watching over the forum. Unfortunately as Connect is not opensource it does not have a github page. I monitor these three sections of the forum, however the official feedback is the orange tab in the bottom right corner of Connect.

That said, it should be possible to delete all files from Connect storage - in the bottom left of the screenshot below
The error probably should say something like "Connect storage quota exceeded" instead

RE: SUGGESTION: Prusa Connect File Management Features Needed

As much as I enjoy using PrusaConnect, file management is one of the weakest aspects of it. Specifically, the inconsistencies between file management features for PrusaConnect and on the printer. Ideally, I'd like to be able to create directories, drag files around, and delete one or several files at a time. Some of this works in one part of the PrusaLink/Connect ecosystem but not the other.  I do appreciate that the fact it relies on USB storage on local printers creates its own set of (admittedly homemade because using USB storage was a choice) issues, others—like no folders or at least tags on PrusaConnect—are a bit harder to understand. Having folders or tags to organize models by project, customer, etc. would be super useful. Right now my PrusaConnect storage is a hot mess of unorganized files.
