If you want to have a password for using the printer at all, which I find ridiculous, make it part of logging into prusa connect not accessing the printer.

This is about PrusaLink though, not Prusa Connect. I imagine that many / most people who are using PrusaLink today over Prusa Connect are doing so because they don't have to connect to the internet in order to do so. Otherwise Prusa Connect is just plain better in every way compared to PrusaLink (at least imo, it was a while since I last used PrusaLink).

i am quite annoyed about this little detail. it is the same printer. why does the direct way of accessing it provide less functionality? and no, i'm not talking about print queues (not like it should be much work to implement). really not a fan of such strong pushes towards clouds where it is not needed

PrusaLink is limited by the compute power and memory constraints on the printer. That's why they move some features to the cloud where it is easier to do it.

See my GitHub and printables.com for some 3d stuff that you may like.

We are in 2025 and the ability of using custom password is still not added. This is really disappointing - Prusa do better! Without this whole PrusaLink is just a waste of time...

Another year has passed and this is still not solved. Very, very disappointing Prusa...

a lot of things about PrusaConnect and PrusaLink are very very disappointing.

I know Prusa Link is limited based on the Buddyboard, but that's their fault for putting this feature in it. What they should have done was either work fully with the OctoPi team to integrate the new printers into it or develop their own version that runs on a RaspberryPi. Afterall, they did allow for a RPI 0 to be installed into the MK3/3S.

I loved my OctoPi installations for my MK2S and MK3S. The things that you could do with it, the wonderful add-ins that are available for it really allowed for someone to make the printer and the OctoPi setup their own. I did have OctoPi setup, a couple times for my MK4->4S / MMU3, but it didn't work the same. I even went back to it a few times hoping things would improve and they didn't, at least from what I could tell.

Oh well... just sitting here dreaming they'd fully support the RPi and OctoPi with the newer systems

- 1st "printer" TIKO 3D
- 2nd PRUSA i3 MK2S with MMU v1
- 3rd PRUSA i3 MK2S
- 4th PRUSA i3 MK3 with MMU v2- 5th PRUSA i3 MK4 (upgraded from MK3) with MMU v3 (upgraded from…
