[Idea] External/Third-Party Storage solutions e.g. Google Drive, Google Cloud Storage, Dropbox

Hello,

I have recently opted-in the beta and this is a perfect solution to manage our printer farm, however, one thing that we have established internally is our own unique guideline for organizing GCodes via GDrive ( slowly moving to GCS ), and relying on SDCard storage is currently not an option for us.

It would be great if Prusa Connect would offer external storage integration or an API-based one ( especially, if it would work on a streaming basis e.g. show all files but download the GCode that Prusa will print to reduce bandwidth, requests, and preserve space ).

Other than that, I absolutely love the work the Prusa team has put through to make this platform!

I think that could be done by Octoprint.

In fact,

It could easily be added to Prusa Connect.

Our storage server used Windows, so getting octoprint instances to run was easier, it also had google drive with the streaming option installed and all octoprint config.yaml was configured to use specific GDrive location. However that was not the point of this post, and the same goes with the plugin, which is at an early stage and only provides barebone features. But I am also glad for your suggestion.

I have found out that Zero W processes file slower, therefore I was curious if the dev team would be interested in implementing similar approaches with cloud-based storage.

I would really like to see some automatic backup.  File loss is devastating and real.

There is a component in prusa-link that monitors the mtab file, so custom mountpoints as well as folders to anywhere are possible, but my boss made them not configurable and that made me not bother with testing if they work. I'll link him over, so maybe he'll get persuaded into letting me support them.

That said it will still be a hassle to configure if my way gets approved. But I have no idea if a graphical solution is ever planned.

We have Google Drive and other cloud storage on our Connect road plan, which will be public soon.

So the goal is supporting download g-codes from cloud over connect instead of mounting cloud storage directly from printer (Prusa Link)
