RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
First one up and running
Intital thoughts:
lovely form factor
soooo quiet
build is OK but those nuts are a pain (I’ve got an idea for the second...)
firmware feels a little unfinished
print quality looks superb
dribble and ooze (but my MK3s has the mmu so I’m used to bed levelling etc with an unloaded nozzle)
Screen is crisp
conclusion - it’ll be an absolute winner given some firmware and build iteration
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
So, is it really just that one mainboard housing box part that broke for you guys? The MINI-z-bottom.stl file?
Or adjacent parts as well?
My printers haven't shipped yet, but in case they don't manage to improve the packaging until they do, I'd like to prepare myself. Have a MK3S here that I can use to preproduce the part(s) so they're ready when the printers arrive.
Given the recent comments of people who have received their printer already, it appears they haven't remotely spent enough time on safe packaging for this model. I don't know how they secure their pre-built i3s and how that compares, I only got mine as a kit - with zero transport damage. Would be interesting to see if there was any difference in packing/padding methods.
I'll also echo the sentiment here in case Prusa officials are reading - I'd much rather have bought the Mini as a kit too, not partially prebuilt. Not only for monetary reason but largely also because then I know exactly how it's built, have a good understanding how it works, and hence can optimize the build/tuning much easier and faster than with a prebuilt machine where I don't know in which spots the builder has been sloppy.
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
If you print the files from usb stick its very quit. But slice something and put it in "normal" setings. 0.2 layer hight and little more speed. Then it gets suprisingly loud
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
Well DHL is the worst shipper available. My printer was supposed to be delivered days ago and customer support is useless. I hope everyone else is having less problems.
Watch this:
500km from Prague, five days in the hands of DPD, and no confidence that they will succeed in getting the parcel into the right van.
Follow-up: No change in the online tracking information for over 26 hours.
I called DPD. In a 14-Minute phonecall, I learned that
- I talked to an official DPD representative
- the parcel has been scanned in Raunheim again just after midnight today
- the parcel might arrive tomorrow or maybe Monday
- the question if they succeeded in getting the parcel into a van this morning could not be answered
- the question if they deem one week delay from the initially announced delivery date is acceptable could not be answered
- phone support got offended by the directly pointed questions
- further questions should be addressed to the sender
- while DPD could not point out how the sender can control how I get my parcel in an acceptable time
- last question was also deemed offensive, and DPD support hung up the call after wishing me a merry Christmas
My benefit from the phone call to DPD is to know:
- DPD online tracking hides relevant information
- that the parcel maybe won't arrive today
- DPD reps are not prepared for direct questions that allow for answers which can restore my confidence
- DPD is not in control what DPD is doing
My impression of DPD is that they behave similar to a fly that was trapped in my kitchen this summer. The fly tried to get out through the partially opened window, and banged its head for hours against the glass, without realising that it's impossible to fly through glass. The fly didn't reflect on its challenges, didn't knew that it needs to change its approach to succeed. The next day, I found the helpless fly met its maker on the window sill.
I then contacted PR support, gave a quick summary, and asked if they can help. After investigation, I got the reply:
Yes, it looks good. The box should arrive in the coming days, now it is under the guidance of DPD.
Not much more than the demonstrated incapability from DPD. I'm deeply concerned, and also sad, because obviously, P/R put lots of energy into getting the Minis shipped quickly.
"guidance of DPD" - the image of the fly won't disappear.

@pingu
Interesting. Thankyou.

Yea I sent a print I sliced myself last night and good thing it failed (detached from the bed) because I would not have been able to fall asleep. However, the pre-sliced models on the USB are super quiet.
I used the default 0.15 mm QUALITY MINI with Generic PLA profiles.

Yes, just the mainboard housing broke on mine.
To be fair it looks like Prusa have put a great deal of effort into the Mini packing. It is robust and on first sight should be more than sufficient. I was extremely surprised to see the broken housing when I unpacked.
It too would have liked the kit option...
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
My order would be sent yesterday, but unfortunately it has not. After contact, it appears that it is still with packing and they know nothing else. Orders before and after me are already shipped or delivered, I'm still waiting and support can't tell me anything useful. Unfortunately.
It is not that I am in a hurry, they say that they are deliver it in order, that simply does not happen. This is the last time I did a pre-order here 🙂

Remember that this forum doesn't represent the entire customer base. For every unit you hear arrive broken on here, hundreds of others are fine. This happens with every major tech release. Small issues get amplified online.
Mine better not arrive broken now lol
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
@asdf-tgz
I would totally go that way too. Not only its cheaper to have it as a kit but you can also know exactly what you put where without guessing if someone else made a good job on it.
Unfortunately as the days are passing I am seeing more and more problems with the shipped items like the squeezed foam pads and cables too tight or not enough tension on the axis. I don't know if they are in a hurry but one thing you would expect from a Prusa printer is certainly quality. Otherwise you could go to another cheaper option.
Original Prusa Mini + Smooth PEI
Prusa Slicer 2.6.0
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
I am interested to see how many more receive broken printers, The numbers seem low, but then again, even one is huge if you are the one who receives it.

RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
To balance - both together and working well, nothing broken and nothing missing - the Mini has landed
Certainly the firmware needs a few enhancements and the build process would benefit from a look too, but they print well and absolutely work as advertised.
I expect the experience will be more polished for the later orders.

@charles-h13
Not good so far .. Z axis doesn't go all the way up on its own and makes loud noise .. I can turn rod and move it up to top .. seems like a problem with end stop?
Heater hotend failed .. cable looks good .. connector itself on board is on a bit of an angle .. do not know yest if that is normal.. waiting on support
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
Pic og heater connector ..odd angle or not .. sent to support ..w aiting to hear
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
Heater is now working .. but not sure why .. flaky connector maybe .. now onto the z axis problem ..
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
I'm glad all you guys are sorting all the Beta issues before I get mine in February 🤣
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
@gary-s4
Am I the only one who's thinking that the connector was soldered way to hot? :0
There is molten plastic at the ground and I'm not sure of that should be like that. Maybe that's the reason for the bad connection. Maybe the contacts are soldered that bad too.
Itâs better to give than to receive. Especially advice.
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
@padigree
Could be .. I put cover back on and it doesn't work anymore .. flaky connector looks like the case
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
Is the Z axis supposed to go all the way to the top? Mine is topping at three quarters but at least no more noise ..
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
the just 4 screws are not challenging 😉
adust your MINDA just before puting it on.
I am a newbie.
What is MINDA?
