@gary-s4

Yes it should.

The axis self test is buggy, I had two Minis homing in different ways (one almost silent the other buzzing loudly)  factory reset and running the wizard / self test again solved that....

It's the probe thing (with a rubber tip) towards the print bed that is mounted next to the extruder.

Well DHL is the worst shipper available. My printer was supposed to be delivered days ago and customer support is useless. I hope everyone else is having less problems.

Watch this:

500km from Prague, five days in the hands of DPD, and no confidence that they will succeed in getting the parcel into the right van.

Follow-up: No change in the online tracking information for over 26 hours.

Oh boy. Mine just arrived in Nürnberg and I hope I'll have a better (and most importantly faster) route from there. Fingers crossed for both of us!

Seeing all these issues makes me kind of worried about my Mini. I hope that Prusa is able to fix all of these problems by the time my order ships out.

Well, I sure hope the weight is wrong, or that is one heavy mini...

There really isn't all that many issues.. you're just browsing a spot where any issue is going to be highlighted to the nth degree.

True, but still, if somebody else had these issues, it's possible that these issues might occur in my order.

Further update on my damaged Mini. Chat support were their usual overworked and helpful self and have initiated a replacement control box for me. So tonight I completed assembly (as it won't take long to swap the new part when it arrives) and started testing. I straightened up the misaligned hotend first, then found my MINDA was too high. Reset that to credit card height then tests passed all ok. Then I started live z calibration and things went horribly wrong.

Once the line started printing I began dialling down the nozzle with the control knob. After a few turns though it became stiff to rotate and then it seized up altogether. I can no longer turn or click the control knob, the rotary encoder is now completely jammed.

I removed the control board from its case and confirmed the fault, then spent a long session on chat support for the second time today. Had to send a video of the problem. That consisted of me trying to turn and click a control knob which will not turn or click.

Now I have to wait for a replacement control board and my new Mini is useless until it arrives. Disappointed to put it mildly, hope you are all doing better than me.

RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread

I was so happy when my Mini arrived Wednesday, just to discover that the control board encapsulation box was broken:

There where no damage to the shipment package, so I assumed that this was a single case of bad quality control from PR.

Decided to contacted PR support on Thursday. I could have a replacement part in January...
As I had some Prusa Black PETG filament from an earlier upgrade, we agreed that I could print a replacement part myself and they would send me a 300g filament spool as replacement.

I printed the part (Mini-z-bottom.stl, 7h 40min) and used a couple of hours to disassemble and reassemble. Gave up getting the M3s nuts out of the old part (had some spares).

Hope I can get the rest of the printer assembled Friday without further problems...

I just found out, that I was not the only one with this problem, reading this thread.

This is my first "pre-assembled" printer from PR and I am not impressed. I like the kits, as they have the learning process build in and I can use as much time I like to get a perfect alignment and assembly.

Have a look at my models on Printables.com 😉

Same here. Definitely a week point in the construction.

Here is what I got from customer service for those who think like me their order was cancelled

"No, that "back order pending" is an automatic status when the order is still waiting for the payment. However, the system has a way to possibly spot duplicates, so in this case the statuses for those duplicates were changed into "cancelled". But the order you paid for isn't cancelled.

As long  the status of an order is "payment accepted", then the order is in preparation"

My order is still in queue in the same place.

Thanks!

Looking at these photos of people getting Minis with cracked housings. Aren't the printed parts printed with PETG? I feel like I wouldn't be able to cause cracks like that even if I tried, if it was printed correctly. Now, I haven't printed a ton of PETG but from my limited experience I'd say it's usually pretty tough.

Rushed prints maybe?

Yeah, the package was just delivered and DPD was in their proclaimed delivery timeframe (just to give a positive feedback of DPD). No obvious transport deformations on the packaging and no obvious defects/breakages on its interior. After opening the package, a printed welcome sheet of paper greeted me in my native language and gave first instructions. Nice touch!

@lichtjaeger

Definitely a weak spot in the design.

Will you be waiting for a spare part or repair it yourself (print replacement)?

Have a look at my models on Printables.com 😉
