PETG hard to remove from powder coated build plate

When setting  up slicer to PETG filament I see the build plate temperature is 70 compared to 60 with PLA. I have a new powder coated build plate. Removing the object built with PLA is pretty easy. But, with PETG it is VERY HARD. Bending the plate doesn’t work. I’m thinking maybe to reduce the bed heating to 60 for the first layer to see if the PETG object removes easier. So, the question is, how do I over ride the PETG 70 to 60?

you can change the heatbed and extruder values under the Filament tab in Prusa slicer

RE:

I use a combination of Elmer's school glue stick and blue Windex. Rub on some of the glue that is purple when wet. Spray on some Windex. Take a Kimwipe and swirl them around to mix and smooth over the whole plate. The mix determines how hard it is to remove parts. More glue = easier to remove. I do that on objects with a large area on the bed. Less glue = harder to remove. You can tell by the color how it is mixed and how well it is spread. I do that on tall objects with a small area on the bed.

If you try too hard to remove PETG, you can damage the bed.

The more glue /  Windex you use, the more staining may happen on the bottom of the part. Everything is a tradeoff.

Also, a squirt of Isopropyl Alcohol after the bed is completely cooled makes it easier to remove PETG objects. It gets wicked underneath and loosens things up.

Regards,

Mark

Does filament brand make a difference, I wonder? I've used PETG by Prusament, 3DJake and Eryone, and never had problems removing prints from the plate, even with large surfaces.

I’ll have to try that. How do you clean the glue off the plate when you’re done? And reducing the first layer to 70 from 85 was a big help too.

Different filaments may be a difference

dribble isopropyl alcohol around the base of the model on the build plate, and let it soak for a while, then gently flex the build plate, a little at a time, and the model should release from the build plate
