Obviously they would not do that if they were preparing one or a million printers. The point being that there is a suspicion that the checking process is not actually happening, the boxes are just being ticking on the report without any actual testing being done.
I think mine probably would have passed QC. It failed after being turned 20-30 revolutions for the first layer cal. Even then, it was a matter of increased resistance until the click seized up. That would be difficult to automate/test/catch without adding a lot of time to the testing process.

Exactly the same symptoms as mine. Worked fine for a while then gradually got harder to turn while setting live z, then finally siezed.
