Mini for print farm

How many of you have a Mini(s) in your print farm? I'm looking to add a few printers in the next few months. Currently have 2 MK3S and 1 Anycubic i3 Mega. Most of my parts would fit on the Mini.

The only thing is the cantilever X axis. Does this affect the outer edge of the build plate? I need a reliable printer so I'm not always getting failed prints.

So do I get a few Mini's or just stick with MK3S?

I do.  I have 8 Mk3S and 4 Minis.  I have 2 Crealities and 2 Ancubics.  I will add 1 BIQU soon.  The cantilevel does not effect print quality.

I wonder if prusa have any mini's running in their printfarm or if they only have mk3s.

If it takes up less shelfspace, one could theoreticly fit mor printers in.

On the downside, side-positioned spool takes up additional space as well.

@mrstoned

I asked and received a yes, btu the image they sent me was of Mk3S.  Maybe it was lost in traslation.

I have 4.  I do not use the side mounted spool holder.  I have the filament mounted outside my enclosures on spool holders that have bearings built in.

That's good.

I'm planning on exchanging my qq-s for the mini i have ordered, and another miniclone with directdrive mod or mk3s clone (with mmu).

I think i can fit those two in the same space (height-wise) as my delta. It does print ok, but it slowly drifts off-level for some reason and just about everything inside the electronics is superglued in place and i really dont want to dive into that muck.

RE: Mini for print farm

The MK3S has its strengths over the Mini but the Mini has some strengths too when it comes down to print quality.  I have a MK3S (built another and used a third) and have 3 Minis.  The layer consistency of the Mini is way better.  Vertical surfaces are much more consistent looking which give a very clean look in comparison to the MK3S.  This also allows me to print faster with the Mini and get better looking prints.  Most of the parts I print are more ascetic than mechanical but the Mini hits the tolerance every time when fitting things together.

I've noticed some worst ringing when printing way out to the left with things like text and also have seen a little more ringing when you get very tall objects.  I can work around it without much trouble and I plan to add some additional support, which is easier than fixing the layer inconsistency of the MK3S.
