Is some stringing on the Mini unavoidable?

Hi!

I bought a Prusa Mini second hand and 9/10 it prints PLA very well. However, 1/10 times it creates noticable strings that I would most rather just not have to deal with in post-processing. I've tried very many things to get rid of them, so my question is: Is it true what's said on forums that stringing on the Mini is more difficult / borderline impossible to completely eliminate due to it being a bowden design instead of a direct drive? Things I've tried include:

  • Drying filament
  • Prusament PLA, other brands of PLA
  • Temperature settings
  • Retraction lengths
  • Retraction speeds
  • Changing thermal paste
  • Cleaning the heat block
  • Changing the hotend PTFE tube
  • Changing the extruder PTFE tube
  • Wipe while retracting, retract on layer change, minimum travel after retraction, and I'm sure more

I've got a MK4 that prints these perfectly with the same filament roll, so something is obviously up with the printer itself.

It is avoidable, but getting it to the perfection sometimes is extremely time consuming and not worth it, especially on the stock parts such as nozzle/heatbreak.

Check the nozzle if not damaged?
Try retraction tower test?

See my GitHub and printables.com for some 3d stuff that you may like.
