Is it normal for Live Adjust Z to be set at -1.977 to have good print quality?

This isn't really asking for help, but is it normal to have the Live Adjust Z be at around -1.977? I've done a dozen prints and it works perfectly, but it just seems really low to me.

There's not much meaning in the absolute values as Bogdan explained. However, if you're so close to -2 there's no wiggle room to adjust it if the need arises. I would reposition the PINDA higher.

The Super PINDA should have about 1.5 mm distance between nozzle and sensor, so that you’re around -1 when your Live Z is correct.

Instructions for adjusting the PINDA are in Step 16 of https://help.prusa3d.com/en/guide/how-to-replace-superpinda-mini-mini_179912 (Mini) or https://help.prusa3d.com/en/guide/how-to-replace-superpinda-mk3s-mk3s_179920 (Mk3S)

I put this little helper on Prusaprinters.org to help position the SPINDA: https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/57192. Works better than zip ties or credit cards, which have less well-defined heights.

May sound counter-intuitive to move the PINDA higher, but by doing so the nozzle can move closer to the print bed before the PINDA triggers. For an illustration of relationship of distance of PINDA to nozzle and sheet, see

What you mean is not Live Adjust, but first layer Z offset -there's a difference between these two. It's called offset, because it's value is relative. In short, there's no "too small" or "too big" Z offset value.
You say you get nice result at -1.9, while someone else can get same results at-0,4. How can both get the same result by using that different offset? Because "perfect" offset depends on distance between bottom of SuperPINDA and print sheet.

Thanks for that post, @fuchsr. It is counterintuitive, and like probably almost everyone--or at least all noobs, I've been thinking about it backwards. My live Z is about -1.610; I'm not messing with it since I have some wiggle room and first layers are perfect (like I can almost preheat, click print, and walk away). Now I realize the value is that "high" because I got the SuperPINDA as low as I could with the zip tie spacing method.

Thank you fuchsr, adjusting SPINDA with zip tie method like you recommended worked great and I'm now good on -1.322

I have with texured plate an z of  -1.925 when using PETG, and Smooth PEI an Z of around 1625. So yeah. If yours is so close to 2, you can move the pinda up, but if it works now with -1.977, i wont touch it.
