The Blob Of Doom!

Usually they look worse than they are.

First of all, I do not have the Mini, but I'm familiar with how to recover from these things in general.

The first thing I would try is to heat the machine up to working temperature and let it sit, and sit, and sit, and let the heat start to penetrate the blob.

Sometimes it will just fall off.  Sometimes this will loosen things enough so you can gently remove it.

The one thing to be VERY careful about is to not pull and damage any wires to such things as the thermistor or heatblock heater in the process.

In difficult cases you can 'divide and conquer' by removing part of the blob with a soldering iron or hot knife.

Some people have used heat guns.  These run the danger of damaging plastic parts of the printer.  It looks like your Pinda bracket is still ok, so you may luck out and not have to replace any parts.

Good luck.

I see someone ran out of time to go to the bathroom. - it happens, but no need to advertise it 😉

Hello jsw

Thank you for your lines.
Yes, I will try to solve it by removing parts with a soldering iron.

As you say, I do not prefer to use heat guns exactly because they can affect printed parts as you described.

I need to find an hour ( or three) in which my fingers are steady and my eyes are good.
( Need to find a way to get back 30 years......... 🙂 )

OK. Thanks for now.
I will get back to you once I started this task.

Best wishes,
Matt

jsw - here are my results

Told you in two words only: It worked!

I used the soldering iron at maximum heat of 400°C  - and ( what I think is even more important) : I turned on the nozzle heat to 240° C

And as you said: It takes time........but after some minutes ( maybe 8? ) the whole bulb started to get lose.

At this time I started to *act*.
In every manner 🙂
Using the soldering iron, then trying to lose the bulb...........and so on.

Finally I got what you can see in the pictures.
It should not be a problem to reanimate this system.

jsw: Thanks again 🙂
Matt

I'm glad it worked out!  Usually those are not as bad as they first look.

And, if you don't mind, I would like to add your photos to this collection here:

3d Print Blob Of Doom Gallery.

If you look at those, you will see that yours was far from the worst.  😉

RE:

Thanks.  I just added a few, including yours.

If you have any others, particularly of other spectacular 3d print failures (spaghetti monsters, blobs, etc.) I will most likely post them.  You can PM me for an email address to send them to.

LOL, there are a couple of others which might remind readers of what the person commenting suggested.  😉

Thanks again.
