About this section

Hello;

This section was recommended by a community member and I liked the idea, This is a spot for people to discuss various different types of filament that is not so much dedicated to a particular printer, but just covers filament over all.

With how to print certain types of filament, pre processing (drying and such), settings / techniques for printing, post processing, and other things that are related to filament.

RE: About this section

I support it! I've previously only been using the general forum for these types of questions.

About a year ago I was really struggling with printing a filament that didn't have a profile in PrusaSlicer, so I had to do the tuning myself (when I really just wanted to print with it). In that case I was wishing there was some sort of community database or wiki where people could share their printing profiles for different material / printer / desired outcome combinations. I don't think a forum would be a suitable place to do that though.

That said, how are printing profiles added to PrusaSlicer anyway? Is there a community effort somewhere else that I'm not aware of or are printing profiles only added by the manufacturer contacting Prusa?

RE: About this section

For the most part, for profiles for filament, we accept the profiles from the manufacture along with samples of their filament and then they are ran on our end and if they are correct, then we add them.

For community created ones, form our side, it would need to be submitted to the filament manufacture, then to us in order to be added officially. For more of an "unofficial" profile, I can look into trying to get something started if there is a demand for a one stop location for community created Prusa Slicer filament profiles.
