Printing with 0.25 nozzle - "waved" print...?

Hi Everyone!

I'm new to the 3d printing scene, so.... please be gentle 😊 .

I've swapped the MK4S factory 0.4mm nozzle with a Prusa Brass 0.25mm nozzle ( https://www.prusa3d.com/product/prusa-nozzle-brass-0-25-mm/), as I was curious if it can give more detail for the same filament type.

So, I printed a "Fillennium Malcon" ( https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:919475) using both nozzles using the default print settings (profiles) available in the Prusa Slicer:

Ignoring the print times, as they will obviously differ massively, I got a... "dent"... "bump".... "wave" at the end of the print with the 0.25 nozzle.

So... the questions are...

  • Why?
  • Why there?
  • What did I do wrong?

Any insight is greatly appreciated and "Thanks in advance!" is obviously needed. 😊

For some reason the images did not make it into the original post...

Well they're here now 🙂

If you print it in the orientation set in the stl files provided a tall, narrow print like this is going to wobble - the area in contact with the build sheet is small ... try rotating it 90° in the Z plane so that the Y axis movement is better resisted and print it slowly - use a Quality setting and slow it down by 25%
