WiFi 'issues'

My mk4s is declining to connect to any wifi since moving off Devolo powerline onto WiFi 6 via Cisco AP's - commercial grade 9120's - they do have 2.5 and 5 GHz enabled.

I have seen some posts that state the printer won't play nice if WPA3 is active - well it is and it is going to stay active - so how do I get this printer to play. There is nothing wrong with the 'password', the printer is able to see both my defined networks but won't connect to either.

Is anyone aware of or working on this issue ? - I am not going to downgrade the security to suit the printer and I'm not going to hardwire it or return to powerline devices.

RE: WiFi 'issues'

Any chance the SSID (network name) or the password contain special characters? Not sure whether that limitation still exists in the current firmware, but I have seen various reports that the firmware does not handle these correctly. $ and 'space' were specifically mentioned as problematic, I believe, but other special characters might also be affected.

No none - only difference between the two networks is one character in the SSID and the password. The printer detects the SSID's fine, but it won't connect, it doesn't seem to handle the negotiation well since the AP will start with a WPA3 exchange and will only downgrade if the client doesn't accept.

There are no extended characters or special symbols in either password, the issue impacts both networks.

The wifi works fine to the Devolo Magic 2 wifi but won't play with the Cisco's, I replicated the Devolo Wifi in the Cisco because a lot of devices in our house use it, I ran a second 'private' wifi that I don't allow most to use - bit like a guest network only with significantly more segregation.

Not sure if this will help most but it shows the security on each band, I don't think the mk4 has any 6GHz capability (most stuff in the house doesn't) so there is no WPA2 on that.

RE:

Couldn't edit the post - what is this time constraint  ...

I will add a WPA2 only profile just to prove the point re wPA2 / WPA3 negotiation.

My ultimate goal is to move away from password / private shared key access for anything other than a guest network but that will be segregated from any internal access and will provide internet access for guests only. Even Apple devices struggle with fast transform ...

I do realise this goes way beyond a typical domestic install - the printer may need to live on a less secure profile but I'd rather that even guests can't find it - but I'd like to limit the number of profiles I need to manage also
