MK4S - TPE loading issue

Hi,

I have issue with loading TPU. I seems, that filament sensor can't see inserted TPE filament. PLA works fine.

When I want to print TPE, I just disconnect MMU in printers menu and load filament directly to Nextruder. But suddenly this stopped working and TPE started tangling inside Nextruder. Does anyone encounter this problem?

In the past, I had no problem with this procedure and printer was able to print really nice. My last successful TPE print is just few days old.

MK4S with MMU3

TPE Gembird

Thanks

RE: MK4S - TPE loading issue

Did you by chance update the firmware to the latest version 6.4.0 before this problem occurred? I had the same problem after the update. The changelog mentions that the printer now does auto-retract, which is not good for TPU/TPE. You have to disable this on the printer for these filament types. I created a filament user profile for TPU/TPE with this setting disabled. Now the printer loads TPU/TPE without this problem.

See screenshot for the setting. It is the last one in the menu.

Yes, I have newest firmware installed but I am using FLEX profile for loading. This profile has Auto Retract off by default.

Thank you for your help.

RE: MK4S - TPE loading issue

I always had problems loading TPE and TPU with the FLEX profile, because it uses a temperature that is too high and caused clogging during loading at the beginning for the filaments I used. I created my profiles with 220 °C and the filament loads without problems. I use SainSmart TPU/95, Polymaker TPU/95 and Fiberflex 40D (TPE).
