MK4S is not compatible with Prusa Enclosure

Hi,

I wonder if anyone ran into this problem. We just bought new MK4S + Enclosure bundle which gave us assurance that these items are compatible. Well, lo and behold, it is not compatible. The new 360° cooling fan is at a angle and interferences with spool inside the enclosure. If the printer is in its intended position, meaning against the rubber knobs in the back and between the knobs in the front, this problem occurs. We solved it by pushing the printer slightly back. I don't know if Prusa engineers forgot to test it or what. Is there any solution for this or did it went completely under the radar? For now I'm thinking about printing some fixture for this new position.

Thanks for any suggestions or help!

Wow.  I'm sorry to see this.  I also have the enclosure, and this will be a showstopper for me.  I currently measure about 40mm between the edge of my spool and the cooling fan of my stock MK4.  What clearance were you able to obtain when you moved the printer back?  Do you often print at that height?

Thanks.

This is one of those things, I REALLY hope is a one off issue, especially since those of us with the enclosures actually took the time to buy into the entire ecosystem.

@KonyJony: did you talk to support about this yet? Would be good if they knew about it, in case they're not actively watching the forums.

RE:

Depends on how far you push the printer, I pushed it just enough back so the heatbed cable wont bend so much and the ventilator is clear of the spool. I would say its about 5 cm compared to the intended postition.

I have contacted support, and they replied... That this is how its supposed to be, that the printer head will push the spool to the side without affecting print quality. I guess that's why the sloping on the right side of ventilator. Yeah still doesn't sit right with me, even if I don't print in that position often....

I shortened the spool holder by about 2 cm (based on Prusament spool), so that the head doesn't collide. I was really surprised (in a bad way, for sure) such a thing can happen...

A bit late to this, but just chatted with support, and the official fix for this, is to add a spool lock, which will allow you to position the spool appropriately.

Under the 'Others' section, there's a 'Spool-lock.stl' file which addresses it 🙂

Any chance you could upload your file to Printables?

Well I did it the old way - saw, drill, wood screw 🙂

Now that I've done my upgrade, mine is perfectly fine.  I wonder if you are not seating your printer back far enough?  I don't appear to be close to hitting.

I see you are using the ‘clip’ thing though - not sure that is compatible with the 2kg rolls I use
