USA Import Fees?
Can someone who recently purchased a MK4S kit in the U.S. tell me what, if any import fees there are? Thanks.
RE: USA Import Fees?
jeez.. it might change in a week.. sorry.. couldn't resist.. grin.. (from Canada).. 🙂
The best tactic might be to contact your import tax office and ask - then if acceptable pay the duty in advance and import the printer duty-paid - this should at least avoid surprises if unpredictable changes occur - or it would in most countries, the US might do things differently.
Cheerio,

Order from Printed Solid. They are the official partner of Prusa in the U.S. and shipping from local warehouse.

RE:
I paid 162 dollars early last year for my XL. Who knows this year
I was able to find that I paid 54 dollars for an MK4 2 years ago.

Good news! The MK4S kit is under $800 so there are no import fees. Just received it today.
RE: USA Import Fees?
FedEx may bill you for import fees if you added anything that puts the total over $800. I ordered an extra build sheet and nozzle. Got the kit on Dec 28. Got a bill from FedEx 2 weeks later for $54 import fee. Of course, like @crab said, it might change ten times by next week. Arrgh!

Printed Solid doesn't manufacture the printers, They import them from Europe. So they will pass on the import fees to the buyer.

It's weird that FedEx bills after the fact. DHL held your shipment until you paid. You would get an email from and DHL along with a bill. You paid electronically and then you'd be good to go.

True, but then it will be baked into the purchase price and won't be a surprise. FWIW, Printed Solid is assembling some printers here in Delaware. But the parts are sourced elsewhere (and will have tariffs applied to the parts).

The tariffs will be baked into the price. But a product from the European Union previously costing $1,000 could now incur an additional $250 tariff, raising the total cost to $1,250. I think that will qualify as a surprise.
