mk4s assembled and kit difference

Hello, I am new in Prusa.

What is the difference between Mk4S ASSEMBLED and KIT?

Is the KIT exactly same as ASSEMBLED but I have to spend time to assembly/mount it? Or an upgrade KIT for other versions?

Thanks

The kit is self assembly
which should result in an identical working product to the Prusa Assembled version
With the kit, you learn how everything is assembled, making repairs less daunting!

There are kits and upgrade kits. The kit is the same as assembled but YOU have to assemble it. Upgrade kits only provide the parts needed to take an existing printer and convert it to the newer model. The product description should make it obvious what you're dealing with.

Building a kit is not a big deal. Prusa's manuals are outstanding. But it does take time (a few days) and you'd better be a bit mechanically inclined and don't mind tinkering, or you won't have much fun doing it.

There are kits and upgrade kits...

I know this isn't what the OP asked but I have a couple of observations about kits and upgrade kits...
I have a Mk3S+ with a 2+1 screw heatbed which I am going to upgrade to a Mk4S. The price of this upgrade is 653GBP which, given the changes, doesn't seem unreasonable. Doing this upgrade would leave me with a Mk4S (almost the the full specification) and a heap of redundant bits to lob in a drawer, take to the tip or whatever. On the other hand, for 682.80GBP I can buy a new Mk4S kit which, once assembled, will leave me with 2 operational printers - for 30quid more!
Seems like a no-brainer or am I missing something?

I don't think you're missing anything. I see the upgrades as mostly interesting for folks that just love to tinker and/or don't want to keep a second printer and don't want the hassle of selling the old one. Usually you're better off just buying the new model.

I bit the bullet and bought the kit (Full MK4S, not the upgrade kit). The only real challenge I found in the build was more an issue with 78-year-old arthritic fingers than anything Prusa related. My new MK4S self calibrated with no issues and is now next to my desk and printing nicely. I'm now trying to convince my wife that being a 2 Prusa family isn't a bad thing.

RE:

agreed, you learn a lot indeed if you are the type of person that has patience, can read the online instructions and the commentary carefully, and that checks what is doing twice. Otherwise you may end up a little frustrated.

I did start with a mk3, updated via kit to mk3s, and when the mk4 came out, I waited a little, ordered the full kit and sold my mk3s. Upgraded to mk4s via kit and I have an order in for the mk4s -> core one conversion kit...

If you use the printer you will probably need to maintain it (eg the mk4 tend to loosen the screws, so a periodic retightening is a good idea) , for me a reason more to build it myself to gain confidence.

good luck
