Thanks a lot for the Update.   They seem to be faster than the timeline in the web.

That's good news. Did you by chance order the accelerometer with it?

I am scared I will have to wait xx additional weeks to get my upgrade kit because I added the accelerometer at the same time. I took the bait and now gonna have to wait and see.

The packages have been delivered today. When I ordered the MK4S upgrade I also ordered the Accelerometer and the HackBoard. They arrived together.

Still waiting on my 8/12 order and looks like quite a few others as well, really seems like those who ordered with the older style lcd got the short end of the stick.

Hell yeah, man! That's very promising. I ordered 8/14 and now in the shipping window. I will keep my fingers crossed.

Agreed -- It appears (from Prusa comments in the web-based upgrade instructions) that the instructions for the "old style xLCD" upgrade were written after those for the "new style xLCD" models (and may still be in process).  I am assuming either there were more "new style xLCD" in the field so they prioritized those to satisfy the largest number of customers first, *or* perhaps they allocated only limited resources to the new 3d Printed xLCD cases for those machines (the kit for the "old style xLCD" gets a new 3d Printed case, rather than the injection molded one).

I do not like how they take your money from Day 1 and then expect you to wait. Yes you can cancel and get a full refund, but considering the extra long wait times they should do what Amazon do and place a hold on your payment method, but then only actually take the funds when the item is about to ship.

I ordered the upgrade kit and accelerometer 8/14. I got my shipping notification this morning. Stay positive, they're coming.

Reading in reddit:

- Users with OLD Screen  ,  will recive a PRINTED case  withouth the backplate.
- Users with OLD Screen,   About 1+ Month MORE to wait.
- Users with the NEW screen,  Will recive the  "inyected molded" and Backplate.

Not a single word from prusa.
Not a single reduction for OLD Screen users   (the first ones who trusted in prusa mk4)

Impressive Prusa.  Im without words.

Yes, this is what prompted my earlier post, above (scroll back a couple posts before yours).  That's when I realized there was a delay for the "old xLCD", and that we would not be getting the same injection molded xLCD enclosure.

My initial thoughts were similar to yours -- both a delay AND different parts, without any disclosure when ordering?  Poor communications on Prusa's part.

I don't mind the 3D printed xLCD enclosure (I rather prefer it to injection molded), though it is nice that the injection molded part covers and protects the rear of the xLCD board, which the 3D printed one does not.

Overall, I am disappointed that Prusa did not clearly explain the difference in parts and availability schedule between the "old xLCD" and "new xLCD" kits.  Ultimately that would not have made a difference in my decision to order, and the waiting is not a big problem for me.  But I would still have liked to have had better information up front, rather than having these details come out 1.5 months after I placed the order.

RE:

I didn't like the look of the injected molded case anyways.  Plus if you use the enclosure you need to 3d print a mount to make it fit which looks odd with the injection molded case.

Just keep the 3d printed case you already have.  The only difference is the addition of the S at the end of MK4.  Hardly worth the effort of taking it apart. I just left the original MK4 one on and threw the injected molded one in a box.

So in my opinion your not losing it out on anything.

FWIW, I have the old screen version and ordered on day 2. I received injection molded front and back parts.

Maybe they send you the V2 version.   The even changed the online tutorial  for the LCD cover change.    The v1 in the manual is printed part,  and the V2 is injected molded with a backplate..........

I happen to have a v2 screen board as well - it doesn't fit in the v1 back shell. The front shell fits either version screen, though.

the v2 screen  has the backplate in the upgrade.  v1 not

V1=  Printed case + NO backplate

V2 = inyected molded case + backplate

RE:

Prusa's usual dishonest approach....They announce the latest, you buy, they take the money right away and deliver weeks or months later.
I ordered the kit on 13/08, the kit was available when I placed the order.... But I am still waiting.
Same game when I ordered the MK4, while waiting and seeing the delay in delivery, I ordered an X1C although very skeptical: Thank you Prusa for giving me a way to convince me to try something else 🙂
Incidentally, many people don't know that the upgrade also fixes some problems that MK4 has and never communicated by prusa, such as the idler being redesigned (*)... In fact they charge for an upgrade that is actually also a FIX.
I love Prusa, but they remains the usual “garage company” for better or worse 🙁

With all the pain in my heart ..... as prusa continues on this path, they will end up disappearing. It's 2024 and the rest of the companies have become much faster, with better management, same or better quality and lower prices.  And not,  Tech Help is not a good point anymore for Prusa.   Read below....

As an aside, I have had 2 major problems for several years that PRUSA has not been able to fix, and they are catastrophic. Both documented and addressed by Prusa techs on Github.

----------------------------
GitHub 1:
----------------------------

PROBLEM:  DELTA Fans are always set to 100%.

Of course,  I helped PRUSA with about 5-6 videos  (Github problem 1 and 2) with lots of test I done for them  (and posted also in Github)

They broke the RPM of the original Prusa Delta fans with the 3.09 update if I remember correctly. This always puts the fan at 100% usage. The noise it makes is really unbearable. They have always been used at 50% because they had plenty of airflow.

----------------------------
GitHub 2:
----------------------------

PROBLEM 2 - Impossible to mesh the bed because the Super PINDA always fails  (When using Original PRUSA Delta Fans)

Because of the Delta being at 100%, it makes noise in the 5v rail,  being affected the Super PINDA line, making it totally impossible to print ANYTHING. The mesh at the beginning of each print fails in the first or second point.

The only possible option is to change the DELTA fans for NOCTUA (I remember that when you buy them they sent them at random, you could get Delta or Noctua).

I have about 6-8 Deltas that I bought over time, that I will never be able to use  (being BETTER with a lot more CFM than Noctuas).
Several machines I had to change them to Noctua.

This is just 2 more nails in the coffin.

I have a few MK3S+, MK4S and XL.   Have thousands of hours of printing and have modified nothing, all stock parts.

Did I have to wait... yes.

Are the printers perfect.....no

We're there improvements that came over time.... Yes.

I accept that.  If that doesn't sit well with you then there are literally hundred of other options out there for 3D printers.

If you already placed an order and don't want to wait I'm sure you can cancel your order.

I guess I'm at a loss as to what benefit a thread of constant complaining will achieve.

Sorry if anyone finds this offensive, I just felt it needed to be said.
