An upgrade mess of things - MK4s, MMU3, Enclosure

Greetings all-

I have made a mess of things. I let me son assemble the enclosure for an MK3 with the MMU2.  Did not work out, so I removed the printer from the enclosure, bought the upgrade for the MMU3 and upgraded the printer to the MK4s.  I have multiple printers upgraded to the MK4s.  This last one, from MK4 to MK4s I want to add the MMU3 upgrade and utilize the enclosure.  I have looked, but cannot find help for my rather strange scenario.  Please help me do this right so I can have this printer setup for some good things ahead.  (And yes, I am still buying a Core One, but I do not want to waste this).

RECAP:

  • I have an MK4 about to be upgraded to MK4s
  • I have an assembled but not attached MMU2 with the upgrade kit to the MMU3 that has not been used.
  • I have an enclosure that was once the home of an unused MK3 with the MMU2, but before it was put into action, it was removed.
  • I would like help learning the steps to properly upgrade each item so they work together.

Thank you,

M.

RE: An upgrade mess of things - MK4s, MMU3, Enclosure

It's not so complicated: Upgrade the MK4 to MK4S. Make sure, it prints properly before adding the MMU3 to the mix. If the MK4S works well, you can upgrade the MMU2 to MMU3. You may follow the steps for the extruder to change it to MMU3 compatible (but you can also do this, when you upgrade the MK4 to MK4s. The MMU3 upgrade is independent of the MK4 upgrade.

Regarding the enclosure, I cannot help you, as I don’t have this enclosure. However, I would go in the following order:

  • Upgrade the MK4 to MK4S
  • Upgrade the MMU2 to MMU3
  • Finally, check, if you can reuse the enclosure
