Leaving gluestick residue on the plate - will this hurt PLA prints?

Hello all,

I have been printing a fair amount of petg on a smooth sheet. To prevent damage to the sheet, I glue stick the sheet. Works great.

When I switch back to PLA, I wash the sheet twice; once with water to remove the glue and once with IPA to do a final cleanup. Then I print in PLA.

Here is my question - would it cause any issues if I printed PLA with glue stick residue on the bed? I do NOT mean like, leftover bits of brim from a PETG print, that obviously would cause an issue. I mean just literally the glue stick "layer".

Thanks!

PVA does reduce adhesion so the chance of a print coming loose is increased - it depends on the height and the area attached to the print sheet.

A quick workaround is to mark one side of the sheet (sharpie in the corner) and use one side for PLA and the other for PETG.

Cheerio,

...   that is an incredibly good idea. Thank for very much both for the info and the idea. 🙂

One of my Minis is literally printing right now on a sheet that had leftover glue from a previous print. COuldn't be bothered to take the sheet from my workshop to the kitchen sink, never had any issues with it but obviously YMMV.
