USBs not working

Hi,

I have a strange one... some USBs which did work but now don't... they show empty folders in the printer, but show gcode files both in Macs and Linux machines. The printer does still recognise another USB, so it doesn't appear to be a problem with the printer (MK4), but I have just flashed it with the latest firmware upgrade.  Any ideas welcome...

solved. one stick (came with prusa) is dead. the other had an mbr failure. fixed it and everything is ok again.

The format of your usb stick must be FAT32 (win)!

The odd bit is i didn't change any of them before they stopped working, and i tried re-formatting to 32bit (DOS) but still no luck.

RE: USBs not working

I just faced an issue with the USB drive that came with MK4. So I was sending GCode from PrusaSlicer to the printer and it showed an error that the drive was full. I did around 30+ prints (every GCode file was not more than 15-30MB). I pulled the drive and it appeared that the FAT32 partition was corrupted (the partition was shown as RAW in Windows disk management). I tried to recover the files from the drive with testdisk but wasn't able to get all of them back. Is the image of the drive available anywhere online for download?

RE:

The two common issues with USB drives and SD cards are not dismounting properly from the computer which includes allowing time for the buffers to be written out and using certain non standard characters in filenames that are not recognised by the printer causing some or all of the directory to be unreadable; usually deleting or renaming the offending file is enough to restore function.

Cheerio,
