Source for 24.5mm x 1.5mm O-Ring for the MMU3 Nextruder modification.
anyone have a source of the mainplate o-ring specified for the MMU3 nextuder upgrade? I can find them, but only in large lots.

I've just done a search for "24.5mm x 1.5mm O-Ring" and got loads of hits, for instance: https://www.oringsandmore.com/orings-1-5mm-cs-thick-2/
OK there is a minimum order of 10 but at 8 cents each that is not really an issue

is 24.5 outer or inner diameter, can you run the mmu3 without this oring??

The O-ring separates the filament space from the gear space. In an emergency, you can run it without the O-ring, but plastic debris (from the filament tips) from frequent replacements can get into the planetary gear and cause some mischief there. So it is generally not recommended.
