move the part in the slicer, +1mm on the Z axis?

This should put the part off in space, and tell the slicer that it MUST have support.

Otherwise, I'd try modeling my own support, in the CAD model, with a 0.1 or 0.2mm gap between the part and the support cylinder.

Slic3r just keeps putting it on the build plate.  This is frustrating that I can't print as easily as I can on my MK3.  I want to like this printer, but it has been nothing but frustration at this point.

Can you post the file, for us to experiment with? I have some ideas, but I need to poke at it.

Messing with my slicer, I just remembered a useful setting: turn on a raft of a few layers, and that should force support everywhere.

You could also try a brim that is of the type: "inner brim only"

Go to the Print Settings tab and under Raft, specify a number of layers.
