The latest firmware seems to have cured the problem.

Latest firmware 6.0.0 brings me this error. Had to downgrade, now everything works.

RE: "Nozzle Cleaning Failed." Error

I had that problem too.

I thought i had the thumbscrews tight. But fiddeling around i found that the Nozzle had to pushed firmly upwards and than tightening the thumbscrews well.

But after that, i still could move the heaterblock.  So tightening the nozzle again, than tightening the thumbscrewws  solved the problem in my case.

Somehow this little movement seems to be one possibility which can cause the error.

RE: "Nozzle Cleaning Failed." Error

On the Prusa XL, the 6.0 RC3 firmware had a bug in load cell code that caused nozzle cleaning failure and bed leveling failure. Upgrading to the recent 6.0.0 release (24 Apr 2024) fixed it for me.

I think the error message is misleading; my guess is the "nozzle cleaning failure" is because the load cell is triggering at inconsistent z heights (which the firmware assumes is caused by dirt on the nozzle, but could actually be caused by other load cell problems).

RE: "Nozzle Cleaning Failed." Error

I have a mk4 that has started doing this, too – sometimes unloading and re-loading the filament helps, but I'm wondering if there's a deeper problem developing with the load cell?  In the test I had to "tap" fairly forcefully to get a pass on the load-cell test, whereas all the other mk4 printers in my school just need a quick tap for that test.

Has anyone else definitively traced their problems down to the load cell?  I guess replacing it is the only thing to do in that case?

This issue has just hit my printer.  I haven't printed for 2 weeks and also updated to 6.0.0 awaiting delivery of my MMU3. All set to print but cannot get around this error - i have cleaned nozzle, bed tightened lovecell, used different filament and no luck. Anyone have any other tricks?

Sigh, should have checked Github. Downgraded firmware and back to printing.

I had no issues with the previous release of firmware.  Has this problem been reported on the Github page?

RE: "Nozzle Cleaning Failed." Error

Update: I just needed to re-tighten the screws holding the hotend in place - they'd gotten loose and the hotend was lower than it was supposed to be.  Phew!

Hi, yes - BFW-5406] [BUG] Nozzle Cleaning Error with 6.0.0 #3818. I've downgraded and pre-print tests completed and now printing my MMU. God knows what I do when it's built!

RE: "Nozzle Cleaning Failed." Error

Is there any way to get a copy of the firmware with the nozzle cleaning removed?  I have been working with support for hours and getting nothing but failed prints no matter what I try.  Thanks,

I'm getting this error too... loading and unloading the filament doesn't work in my case, the only work around i've found is turning off and on the printer, this way at least the first print works as expected ... but no idea how many print until it shows its  face again...

i've also checked everything was ok .. no residues or whatsover, no humidity (it's coming from dryer Sunlu S2), ambient temperature 30º... havent find any issue that could justify the "nozzle cleaning failed" error...

RE:

FIRMWARE DOWNGRADE SOLUTION

Copy it to the USB drive (make sure it is FAT32)

Insert the drive into the printer (turned off or running)

Turn on or restart the printer, upon the boot double press the knob.

Wait for a few seconds, screen informing you about flashing the firmware will appear.

Flash the FW.

Note: If the screen of flashing does not show, you have to restart and double press knob again. For me it works on third try.

Note2: Touch screen works for me with dowgrade to 5.1.3 😀

Thanks! I'm doing some test in order to find some pattern than could help but it's getting worse so if nothing chages i'll have to downgrade ...

I started having problems using texture sheet, usually i have smooth one, but i doubt it's related... i'll try it it happens with the smooth one either

RE: "Nozzle Cleaning Failed." Error

I was having chronic problems with failed nozzle cleaning with TPU on the XL (fw 6.0.0). The latest firmware update 6.0.1 fixed the problem immediately.

RE: "Nozzle Cleaning Failed." Error

Just completed the printer upgrade (including MMU). Printed the first few parts in PETG, no problems. Changed to nozzle adapter and (previously used) ObXidian nozzle so I could print PCCF - "Nozzle Cleaning Failed". Fiddling around a bit with the nozzle got it to work twice now. Firmware is 6.0.1 on a Mk4, so that doesn't completely solve the issue. dreadengineer a few posts up sounds like he has a consistent explanation for the issue.

I wanted to let everyone know I had this issue for days. Finally replaced Love board and everything works great.

RE: "Nozzle Cleaning Failed." Error

Nope - PCCF at the moment always had an issue with nozzle cleaning even when others work just fine, its more to do with the filament settings in slicer.

What kind of brush?

Posted by: @attanon

I have the same problem. But fortunately it only shows me this error occasionally. I just take isoprophyl alcohol and clean the bed properly and take the nozzles with a brush. And then the next print goes through just fine for me.

RE: "Nozzle Cleaning Failed." Error

MK4 FW: 6.0.2+  / MMU3 FW: 3.0.3

Ongoing and permanent Nozzle Cealing Fails. Not printing possible anymore, regardless ifg filament is loaded or not!

Compete calibration done several times but w/o success.

Can confirm, I'm pissed too about this issue.Prusa, simple put a toggle in the SW until you are able to remedy this desease!
