MK4 LCD : Remaining time before color change ?

Hi,

When I print on the MK4 a model with a color change scheduled in the sliced model,

the time before the filament switch doesn't appear while printing on LCD screen, only "Remaining time" is displayed for the complete model.

On the example below, a filament switch happens at bottom of stem, but no clue when while printing.

This is a very handy info on my MK3S+, when it shows the time+ letter "C" to figure out when to be in front of the printer to switch filament.

I must activate  an option in MK4 panel to get this info while printing, or is it not (yet) available ?

IIRC, it was in the Buddy-family firmware at one point but then disappeared. It is a very useful feature so I hope it will come back eventually.

Yes, a time display similar to the Mk3 would be good, alternating between time to colour (color) change and then time to print end.

I agree and even consider that they MUST restore this display ... really.

I'll add my vote to having the time until a color change displayed.

Just dropping by to state that this feature needs to be prioritized

Currently there is no indication for color change on the display during printing. But this will surely come with an update at some point.

If someone purs it on git hub as a feature request and you all commint saying you want it you got a good chance of it coming back

There are at least two open tickets already, possible more:

Did this not make it into 4.6.4?

Looks like the GitHub threads haven't progressed much either. Surely this is quite an obvious feature to have active, no?

Handy, sure. Higher priority than working on input shaping or to fix some of the bugs that cause issues during prints? Probably not.

Well, when you put it like that, then yes, I agree, lol

Although surely this is a something that wouldn't take them too long to implement. Will just have to babysit the printer for now I guess!

I’d really like this too but agree it isn’t critical since I don’t sit in front of the printer while it is printing. I set a timer on my phone to remind me to move to the printer for the change.

I print a lot of model with color swap, like several times weekly, and I keep doing them on my MK3S+ mostly cause this handy display is missing on my MK4.

As a consequence, when it will be available, I will not upgrade my MK3S+ at any level until this feature will be available on the MK4 LCD.

I am also interested in seeing this feature added back to the firmware.
It's on the MK3 printers, so the code to implement it already exists...probably commented out?

RE: MK4 LCD : Remaining time before color change ?

We use the color changing feature a lot here at the lab I work at. We just switched over to two MK4's that we're using as our primary printers, with the two MK3's acting as backup. We definitely would like to have the indicator back, it was really helpful as it would allow us to work around the color changes and not having to rely solely on hearing the beep tone (especially since the speaker on the MK4 is so much quieter than the MK3).

Looks like it's going to be back in one of the next builds:

But you shouldn't have to wait several months or even years for such obvious things. It's a bit embarrassing that this still hasn't happened yet.
