If someone posted pictures of new design we could look at old file design to compare

Please help me out by downloading a model it's free and easy but really helps me out https://www.printables.com/@Hello_474427/models

If this were my printer that was factory assembled and now working I would not want to be taking it apart for pictures.

Just wait for the updates to be released to Printables. We will see soon enough.

Thanks @jeremy-3 for your updates.

RE: MK4 Factory Assembled - Bad Bearings?

Has the "R2" design addressed all of your issues? To the best of your information, has it been finalized yet or are they working on other hardware tweaks?

I'm asking because I canceled my order based on a bunch of factors, but mostly to ensure I'd get a later production unit because my Mini+ is humming along and I'm not in a rush. Ideally I could wait until IS is available, but I know that'll be an add-on regardless, and it's still 5-6 weeks lead time if I pressed the "buy" button today.

Just curious.

Final Update:

Had a wrap up call with our account manager and the support team today now that we have 2 replacement MK4s we've put through the paces. Everything is looking good on the changes to the toolhead assembly.

Notably, the R1 design will be forever known as the "4 screw" design and the R2 design will forever be known as the "3 screw" design. With the necessary changes to the Nextruder assembly, the only visual reference between the two versions is the number of screws and the mount.

One is to add to the business fleet and one is for personal collection.  Both are humming along well without any current issues.  I think most everything else is going to come in the way of slicer profile and firmware updates.

Thank you @jeremy-3! I very much appreciate your hard work, diligence, and persistence in identifying and helping to solve the issue. And for letting me know it's looking resolved.

Pressing the "buy" button (again) today.

I am so excited for the kit. I’m upgrading from an old reprap rework for 2016. Hoping to see some substantial improvements! I ordered 8 minutes after it went live on the site so hopefully I ship pretty early!

Do you already know the order list? There you can see where you are. I also ordered right away.

RE: MK4 Factory Assembled - Bad Bearings?

That list is unfortunately meaningless - the order number is not being incremented by one, so not every number between two actual orders has to exist and even two subsequent orders can differ by more than *99999 so a valid "smaller" number in that list can be from an order after some "bigger" ones.

The order number is actually a unix timestamp value - actual time of your order - you can put it into https://www.epochconverter.com/ and check for yourself.

My Mk4 is extremely loud. A lot of resonance and vibrations. Simply can not be accepted.  53dB 2 meters away 🙁

I did not think a 3d printer could be this loud without being driven by a chain saw.

I think I have the three screw design and it is very loud. I have the mk4 on top of my enclosure with the Mk3S+. If I stick the head inside the enclosure with both running, I more or less only hear the mk4, thats outside of the enclosure.

Been in contact with the support/chat this evening and tested a lot but it dosent help. Pinching the two X-axisa rods slightly together takes the rattling noise away. But the vibrations still is there and these are loud.

They said they would be back in a few days by mail. I have a hard time seeing that its an easy fix, but for now I guess its just to wait.

RE:

So no internal changes, just a small cover change that helps faster manufacturing apparently.

Noise was down to a faulty batch of motors.

RE: MK4 Factory Assembled - Bad Bearings?

Hello,

I am not sure if Prusa Research found the real point where the noise is generated, or they are just "guessing". However this is technically possible.

I think that to solve this issue they would need (or rent) a special camera that see the sound, so that they could see exactly in which point the sound is generated.
