Massive Layer Shift on MK4

Hi everyone,

I have an issue with a my most recent prints. I have tried printing it about 8 times and every time have a massive layer shift. Not just a tiny shift due to an issue with the belt. I'm talking of a 1-2cm shift (see images). Previously the printer printed fine.

I have tried many things to resolve the issue but without any success:

  • rechecked x+y belt tension
  • recalibrated x+y axis
  • cleaned nozzle
  • re-sliced model
  • used different infill patterns
  • reduced printer speed to 50%

I'd appreciate any hint or tips, as I don't know what the actual problem could be. I don't think it is a physical shift of the print, as the printing plate is still well in position after failure.

My printer also has a MMU.

Thanks a lot and best regards,

Phil

Unfortunately, I too have exactly the same problem.

No problems at all when running as a straight MK4, but after I added the MMU3 and updated the firmware, I get a massive layer shift, always in the X axis.  It happens about one in every 3 or 4 prints.

I am running prusa3d_fw_MK4_MK4S_MK39_MK39S_6_1_3.bbf.

The image shows 2 failed attempts at printing these 2 pieces.

I also have this problem.  I have the problem on multiple prints and on multiple MK4 printers and on my XL (no MMUs).  I am wondering if it is the memory sticks, the bgcode file format, or my mac.  Keen to hear if anyone has solved this problem.

Yes, I have the same issue, mostly with boxes.  It is a recent occurrence, only the last month or two.  Models that printed with no issue before, are now having issues.

With the boxes, at best, I now have a seam at the top layer of the bottom.  At worst, a huge offset.

To be honest, I don't think there is anything that can be done on our end until Prusa releases a fix.
