Froze mid-print and damaged bed

Hello,

This is my first time posting to the forum so please be kind if I am posting in the wrong place or making any other missteps.

I have about a dozen prints completed with my Mk4 and recently set up PrusaLink.  The first time sending a print with the option to start the print after transfer it started but stopped before completing the first layer.  I checked to see that it started and should have monitored it more closely but went to work before confirming that it finished.

Instead of completing it just hung in position at the first layer keeping the bed warm and the extruder hot for many hours until I noticed it.  The screen showed it was still actively printing but nothing at all was happening.  It did some damage to the print bed where the extruder was in contact with it.

Does anyone know what caused this?

I had firmware 5.0 and have since upgraded to 5.1 but haven't seen any patch notes that seemed to be specific to 5.1 rather than 5.XX

Any explanations, tips, etc. are appreciated.

Thank you,
Sam

RE:

I can confirm your issue. I connected the Original MK4, Firmware v5.1.0, with https://connect.prusa3d.com and started several prints. Everything worked fine for about one week. After this time I got catastropic results and was not able to finish prints with a duration longer than 2h.

Issues were same as mentioned in the previos post:

I reset the printer and installed a fresh version of firmware v5.1.0 without any connections to the internet via LAN or WLAN and everything works fine know. Is there a known fix for this issue or are there any tips to avoid this occurences when the printer us connectet to connect.prusa3d.com?
