Adding non-standard filament material option

I am hoping to print PVA with MK4. (Specifically, PrimaSelect PVA+ ordered via Prusa.)

PVA is not an option in the standard list of filament material provided when I load the filament in MK4.

I have used the same material with MK3S previously. Since the old machine does not "remember" the type of filament loaded, I was able to lie to the machine and load the filament with the PLA setting (slightly higher temperature). I can then run G-code generated for PVA with PrusaSlicer.

MK4 is able to keep track of what filament I loaded and complains when I try to run the PVA G-Code with the filament it believes is PLA.

What's the proper workaround? Is there a way to add PVA to the material option, or can I override the error message?

Thanks in advance for the help!!

RE: Adding non-standard filament material option

Interesting question, I'd love to know the real answer, but I do know a work around... You just copy your profile settings for the new material into a copy of any other material profile - say Generic PLA, but call it Generic PLA (New).... then when you use that to slice, the machine will be happy your using PLA if you tell it you're loading PLA when you load your new material.   if your material is much hotter than PLA, then chose a material profile to copy which is of the same temperature.. then you're on to a good start upon loading.   good luck 🙂
