USB external camera

Hello, I would like to connect a usb camera to my printer. But unfortunately I don't know how to do it. Everywhere I find instructions how to do it if I have an external Rpi, but I don't have that, I use the internal Prusa link from the printer. Is it possible to achieve this even if I don't have an external Rpi. Or do I need to use an external Rpi and run the prusa link there and connect the camera to that?

It depends what you are trying to acheive.  Simplest is to set up a webcam and point it at the machine..?

RE: USB external camera

I want to add the camera to Prusa Connect or Prusa link so I can see what the print looks like. See if it's printing well, if anything's broken. I just need a view of the printer through the camera.

But ideally I don't want to have multiple programs for that. (Like having the camera accessible via the web for example and then having prusa connect.) Ideally I want to have the camera added in Prusa Connect so I have it in one place.

RE: USB external camera

I hope that prusa find a way to add external cameras like the ligitech C270-c290 etc. We have a connection that can be used on the electonic board via USB-C, I will need to get an adpater from USB-A to C ]. This should not be a hard thing to add...but what do i know.

Having camera support will help to maintain a farm and for checking on progress of a print. Most other printers allow a camera to be added without having to use a exteral camera phone or tablet.

Please prusa fix this !

That would be great, but I guess they might have deliberately left that out until they finalize the Input Shaper, in order to reduce all the unnecessary load from the printer's CPU. There were many print quality issues on the Octopi + older printers caused by the imperfect timing due to excessive RPi load.

I connected Logitech C920 USB camera to my pc and connected it via Prusa connect, camera section.

Then add new camera and  open https://webcam.connect.prusa3d.com/ to register one.

You can use https://webqr.com/index.html site or other one to scan QR code.

Thanks, it is a documented feature, that requires a PC or any other computer/smartphone running a web browser. We are primarily talking about connecting a camera directly to the printer, as it seems technically feasible.

So.... installing raspberry pi OS on a pi4, installing pi-cam or an another webcam and then running webbrowser and following your steps would be a solution right? This way I can use it for my MK4
