RE: Prusa MK4 vs Bambu?
You can cut-off the internet and print with the USB-drive - no problem at all.
RE: Prusa MK4 vs Bambu?
There are many kinds of "security." If you are worried that someone will intercept the data on the Internet, to and from Bambu, that is no longer a problem. Its encrypted like bank data or most data out there today. If you are worried that your models can be looked at in China because they are on a Chinese server, that is a problem that can be avoided in "LAN" mode, but then the question becomes, how secure is your LAN. If you don't want either of these, you can put your models on an SD card and walk them to a printer. With the X1C, everything is spelled out on the display. With the P1S, its harder to watch, but it still works fine. Unless your a business with secret models or the military, I personally wouldn't worry about using the Internet.

[...] The slicer is far too bloated in my opinion, fewer setting options would be better and would mean more transparency and less susceptibility to errors.[...]
Just in case you don't know: there are different modes in prusa slicer, expert mode shows everything option but you can also selected?standard? Mode which Limits available options to essential ones
RE: Prusa MK4 vs Bambu?
Yes, there are different levels of security.
The question still comes down to what features are lost with only LAN or USB mode. Originally, there were many features that seemed to disappear if you didn't use the cloud. Some people are very concerned about anything Chinese. Even though most electronic items are partially or fully Chinese. Supplying personal data is another issue. As the link states, Bambu has improved their security. I do worry about the internet from what I have witnessed.
RE: Prusa MK4 vs Bambu?
I think its the obvious. If you only connect to you printer with a SD Card, like I said, to control your printer you will need to use the front panel, so no PC or Mac or mobile phone. If you use LAN mode, and your computer is on a LAN, then you can control it on your LAN, but that is it. No mobile phone over the cellular network. Want to use use your phone from everywhere? Then you need to use regular Internet mode. Prusa printers are no different.

After some serious thought I ordered another A1 Mini Combo while they are still on sale for $100 off. My first order will arrive today. 😋 After reading a lot of reviews it seemed like a no brainer to buy the first one but there are so many possibilities with having 2 of them as far as colors go. And even with single color prints you could choose from 8 different colors and quickly print something out. Hardened steel nozzles are reasonably priced and spare parts are too. The only thing I don't like is no ethernet cable port for a hard wired system. They even come with a built-in camera but there is a mod for adding a better one. The nozzle changes are too simple and quick. I still love my MK4 but the multicolor thing is an expensive upgrade when done in pieces as I bought the first MMU as a kit, and the upgrade as a kit and now I even bought the 3rd upgrade as a kit and haven't even built it yet. Easier to get something that just works.

Would you mind sharing?
Skysmotor sells the following products online: Planetary Reducer, Spindle Motor, Hybrid Stepper Motor, Stepper Motor and can be purchased online if necessary.
RE: Prusa MK4 vs Bambu?
I use my printer in LAN mode. From what I can see you only lose the remote abilities - ie from the smartphone app, which I never use anyways. In fact I don't even have the app on my phone to start with. You can still check on the print remotely on your local LAN from a computer though - which suits me fine as I do not leave my printer unaccompanied when it is in use, for safety reasons more then anything else - so I'm usually in the same building regardless.
All the parts are easy and cheap, as well as being more locally available - so no huge shipping charges like Prusa has.
I love being able to just wirelessly send the print job to the printer, so I will definitely be setting that up for the Prusa too.
I do find I'm using my BambuLab A1 more then my Prusa just out of convenience - the spools of filament are always loaded in the AMS etc, so its just always there and ready.
I need to find a similar solution for the Prusa - I have the MMU3 still waiting to be built, so I need to find a filament storage solution so they are always loaded and then I'm in the same position as my BambuLab - maybe just the cereal box container method......
I do still prefer my Prusa though, I dont know why! One thing to note is the Prusa is certainly a lot quieter!
The filament wastage is an issue for me. It's wayyyy too high with the BL. I mean, the wastage is higher then the actual printed model, which is unacceptable IMO. I'm looking forward to using the MMU3 in that sense, as the wastage is much more acceptable - something the MMU3 system needs to be commended on.
I'll be upgrading my MK4S to the Core One asap. Both models have their Pro's and Con's. The BL is so beginner friendly its unbelievable how quick you can be up and printing, but I do enjoy the build with a Prusa. Most likely I will keep the A1 as my general bed slinger used for smaller prints like coasters etc where I can just print the first few layers in colours to keep wastage levels down, and the Core One with MMU3 as my 'master' machine that I'll use for proper coloured models......

RE: Prusa MK4 vs Bambu?
For the Core One, a new solution for the filament and buffer is to be developed that sits on the printer in a similar way to the AMS.
The solution with the cereal boxes is cheap and also works. If you go for a different solution, you can still use it. Storing filament dry and clean is never a mistake.

Thats what I thought but I don't see how they will get 5 filament spools on the smaller footprint above the Core One. Also note that the MMU3 hangs on to the rear frame panel on the core one, and the top panel is removed leaving the top of the printer open. I'm sure Prusa's solution will be the same as the current one - place the spools behind or beside the printer - although I'm interested to see what solutions others with a more imaginative and engineering based mind then my own will come up with!

RE: Prusa MK4 vs Bambu?
I spoke to a Prusa employee about this topic at Formnext.
First with the MK4, where he himself criticized the large amount of space required and the somewhat messy setup. I then showed him my solution.
When asked about the Core One, he brought up a box. But he didn't want to or couldn't say any more about it.
But it should go in the direction of my solution. I think he means dispensing with an extra buffer.
I could imagine that the box is also under the printer like the Sikkobox for the XL.
In any case, it should be installed on the printer.
Let us be surprised.

Sounds good - this would be great!
