Mid layer skips, this is getting really annoying!

I've been getting these really weird and extremely annoying mid-layer skips on both of my MK4s
Everything is going fine until it suddenly skips 50-150 lines of GCODE and then resumes further along

And when I print the exact same file again it works...

Are you printing via USB stick, WiFi, or serial?

RE:

I would try replacing the USB stick with a different one and try the prints again. It looks like a time-out while reading. The new USB stick can only have printable files, not necessarily the contents of the original USB.

Replaced the stick on both machines but still get missing extrusions completely random...

Printing via Prusa Connect, also tried disabling binary GCODE and right now I'll try to downgrade the firmware

RE:

It appears that the printer is skipping gcode but continuing on correctly afterwards, correct?  That eliminates axis shifts, and you appear to have eliminated USB stick issues.  I'm thinking what's left is software issues (not the slicer since it doesn't happen consistently for the same file), or hardware issues in the main control board (buddy board?) or display board, or maybe the parallel cable to the display board (although I'd expect crashes if that was the case).  But I'd start with the parallel cable - replace it or reseat it and see if anything changes...  maybe that cable only carries print data and the addresses are getting corrupted occasionally?  Does your display glitch at all?  I'm just guessing here without fully understanding how the printer really works under the covers.

If your firmware version was the issue this would be seen by more people since presumably thousands of people are using the same firmware.

Yeah, it skips something like 70-150 lines of gcode and then continues on as if nothing had happened :-/
If it happens during infill its not a big deal but sometimes its top layers or outer perimeters...

I have 2 MK4:s, one factory assembled and one from a kit. Both printers have the same issue so thinking its either something in the firmware or enviromental

Have downgraded both machines to 5.0.1 now and have not hooked them up to Prusa Connect
If this works out I'll try to upgrade them again to 5.1.2 without PC to see if they are more stable then
