GUYS! Retraction Settings for PLA, PETG, TPU, and ASA
It seems the planetary gears behave much differently than the settings for the MK3s+ profiles I had ... cry! What do you guys have?
RE: GUYS! Retraction Settings for PLA, PETG, TPU, and ASA
I don't have a mk4,
on my mk3 and mk3S, I typically use half of the default retraction... 0.4mm instead of 0.8mm. for PLA and PETG
that also worked on my modified mk3 with a 3:1 planetary gearbox, and my modified mk3S with an orbiter extruder which has a 7.5 : 1 planetary gearbox.
I would be surprised if the planetary gearbox was at fault.
I try to make safe suggestions,You should understand the context and ensure you are happy that they are safe before attempting to apply my suggestions, what you do, is YOUR responsibility. Location Halifax UK

.1-.8 seem to make no difference so far. I am working up till 2. Considering turning z lift off as well. (.1 or .2) It's very fine, and possibly moisture. will trouble shoot that in a bit. Same filament running fine on the MK3s .25 at .2 Length and .2 lift perfectly. Revo-printing at 208. The only thing else I am about to try is temp. Printing at 205 on the 4, but I never ran a PiD. Maybe that helps. idk
RE: GUYS! Retraction Settings for PLA, PETG, TPU, and ASA
Might it be possible that the filament slips on the gear when retracting? A little more tension could help if this is the case.

In what sense? I don't see any issues running stock Mk4 profiles. You can use the Compare Presets tool in Prusaslicer to check what the differences in defaults are between those machines. There are some but they seem minor.

I don't have the profiles in front of me, but what are the differences? If retraction speed, this has quite some influence on stringing.

That is a consideration to make. I might try a quarter turn. First, I will check the filament for moisture, then on the best settings I've had so I will spin.

I've had differences with filaments and rather than always change the printer itself I always set up a filament profile. I compared the stock settings which had everything under retraction turned on, which all of my other filament profiles did not. I've turned them all on and am trying the filament with "stock" machine settings. I also turned the screws a touch. but I still have fine strings.

You can try to reduce the flow to 95% or even 90%.
Reducing the layer width would also be a way to reduce the pressure in the nozzle.

It was “moistly moisture.” One thing during this process so far I’ve noticed because uh well I do it on my three when I change printing temps PiD tune, not built in?
Not sure you could do it in it pronterface because it didn’t even let me store the x and y tuning . I also realized that aiming for 150 is real hard with 60 mms max filament. Have one roll of highspeed coming tomorrow to play with.
For now … poly terra charcoal isn’t so bad on 75% gonna bump it up.
