4.7.2 Firmware for Original MK4 is out now!

Summary

  • Custom nozzle diameter
  • Temperature menu reordered
  • Bug fixes

This is a final release of firmware 4.7.2 with changes for the Original Prusa MK4 and Original Prusa XL including multi-tool variants.

Custom nozzle diameter

Until this release, the printer allowed users to set the installed nozzle diameter only with predefined diameters. Starting with firmware 4.7.2, users can set nozzle diameters from 0.25 mm to 1.0 mm with steps of 0.05 mm. To set yours, visit Menu -> Settings -> Hardware -> Nozzle Diameter.

Temperature menu reordered

The menu allowing the user to set the custom temperature for the nozzle and heatbed is now reordered, with the nozzle being at the top as it is a more frequent choice. To set custom temperatures, go to Menu -> Control -> Temperature.

Bug fixes

  • MK4: The printer no longer maintains heating the heatbed during Gear calibration as it was unnecessary.
  • MK4: The printer no longer gets stuck if the Hotend fan error is not properly resolved (e.g. fan blades remained clogged with filament).
  • MK4: Print speed after Power Panic is no longer incorrectly set to 100% or 50% and retains the value set in the Tune -> Print Speed.

custom nozzle diameter limits

I was not sure if i should comment here, as i do not own a MK4 yet....

It is a good idea that users can set a custom nozzle diameter. 😀

But then, why is it limited to a range between 0.25 and 1.0 ?

With the nozzle adapter taking every V6 nozzle and nozzle diameters from E3D or Bondtech ranging from 0.15 to 1.8 (!) mm,

i think these values should be the limits ?

I like the idea, but I am not sure a Bondtech 1.8 would work on a Prusa.  Would it even melt the filament?

RE: 4.7.2 Firmware for Original MK4 is out now!

Just loaded this firmware on today and it make my Mk4 fail the nozzle cleaning every time. Looked into it and it would not pass the loadcell test unless I hit it really hard. Rolled back to the last firmware I was on which was 4.6.4 and then it passed the loadcell test and nozzle cleaning easily. Not sure what happened but I'm gonna stick with 4.6.4 for now because I know it works

RE: 4.7.2 Firmware for Original MK4 is out now!

I am using it from day zero on my MK4 (I flashed it on the MK4 just after assembling the printer) and I have no issues at all.

The first layer is perfect. The only difference is that, I do not keep the filament all the time in the nozzle. So in PrusaSlicer I changed the end-gcode section on the printer profile to perform a FILAMENT  UNLOAD at the end of each print. It takes more time, but I never leave filaments in contact air, so I need to remove them from the nozzle and put in the sealed box.
