X carriage belt tension

I've just completed the X carriage assembly and find if I install the belt according to the assembly pictures, it is very loose / saggy.

This is with 9 teeth in the X carriage on the motor side and 8 teeth on the idler side.

I'm not up to where final belt tension is set yet but it seems far too loose. Should pictures be followed in relation to seating the belt or should I move the belt end on the idler side in another tooth or two?

I'd tighten it up now. There is a limit as to how much the adjustment later can tighten the belt.

Thanks. I'll do that. Assume I can use the tension spp at this stage of the build to make sure x tension is in the required range?

You'd have to skip ahead to step 5.41 to do that. I suppose that might be possible, but probably isn't necessary as long as the belt doesn't seem *too* loose at this step. Without the extra tension added in 5.41, the app will likely report that it is too loose.

Pull the belt gently snug while installing. Don’t worry about what the pictures show, the belt may not be the exact same length. It will be loose after installing but it won’t be tight enough. You’ll tighten it up later.
