Original PRUSA MK4 Kit - Full Step-By-Step VIDEO Build Guide

I have begun work on a complete step-by-step video build guide on how to construct the Prusa MK4. In the video you see me building my own personal MK4, which passed all calibration tests first time - no issues at all - so if you follow this guide you should be trouble free!!

This series of videos is for those who wish to build their MK4, or even for those who are waiting for their kit and want to see what's involved in the build process, or maybe you're little nervous about the build and want to see what in entails beforehand! Either way, I hope the videos are useful to you.

Please note that I have no affiliation with Prusa. I do not work for them, nor was this kit supplied to me. It was purchased via my own money. It takes a lot of time and patience to create these videos in such detail - taking time with camera angles, then editing etc. I would be most grateful for a sub and a like on each video if you would be so kind.

Either way, I do hope this helps people with their kit construction.

Currently the frame construction is complete. I am editing the X-Axis assembly video now, and the remaining will follow. I hope to have all parts up over the coming week or two - although as stated, please do subscribe to be informed of when the next video is released!!

Would be grateful to hear your comments on the videos!

Enjoy!

Spot on thanks mate, I’m following both you and tada 3d printing with your build guides, yours are very thorough, clearly narrated and with good video quality. Brilliant. Now all I need is my printer kit (roll on mid September).

I don't have the printer yet, but I've already watched the videos. They are very detailed and clear. Very helpful I think besides the assembly guide.

@iftibashir: Thank you for the good work. 👍

@iftibashir: What a great video series. I had received my MK4 kit 2 days ago and completely built it following your videos. I used the built manual only for confirmation. And I can confirm your videos really give all the needed instructions to put together a great functioning MK4 printer. It passed the test protocol successfully and is printing silently with best quality. Prusa should contract you as video manual provider, seriously. Thanks for your precise and easy to follow built instructions. I had a great weekend and am already printing lots of Fpv drone parts like toroidal props and camera canopies.

Awesome! Glad it helped! I find that sometimes the visual in a video just offers that little bit more clarity over a text/photo guide, even if just used for clarification etc. Thanks for the feedback!

I’m considering getting the MK4 kit. Your videos have helped me make the decision to purchase the kit. I agree with what others have commented in this thread - Prusa should bring you on board or compensate you in some way as you are increasing their sales. In particular, I like the way you explain things and explain the correct orientation for parts - like the rail assembly. Can’t count the number of times Ive put together something and had the part in backwards. Impressive. Well done!

Thank you for your feedback.

I did ping an email across to Prusa just to highlight the videos and see if they wanted to use them with their customers. Had a response to say it would be passed to their content team and to Josef, so will see whether I receive any response…. 😉

Wouldn’t mind completing a similar guide for the MMU3, or the Mini+ …….. 😉

Thanks again for all your kind comments and encouragement.

I find it so much easier to follow a well produced set of videos like these than following written instructions, like the old saying a picture is worth a 1000 words. Brilliant job iftibashir.

I agree this should be pinned as it will help so many people now and in the future.

I finally had time to open the package and immediately noticed a small difference compared to the video. There were no printed assembly instructions in my package. Has Prusa's policy changed at some point and now all kits are delivered without instructions?

My bad...I hadn't checked that option when ordering. Fortunately, we have these videos and online installation instructions.

Yes I selected the option to include a printed manual as it made things easier for me to refer to while creating the videos!

For now though, all you need to do is follow the video guide. Follow it to the letter and you’ll have a perfectly functioning printer!

RE:

You have put me in a bit of a conundrum here.  I'm expecting delivery of my kit sometime near the end of Sept, early October.  One of the things I have been looking forward to is the time that I get to spend with my son, working methodically through the Prusa assembly instructions and watching and encouraging him as he does as much of the assembly as possible.

Now for the conundrum.  I made the mistake of watching your first two installments of the instructions.  They are incredibly well done, expertly explained, professionally edited, and thoroughly enjoyable to watch even without having the kit in front of me yet.  I now know that if we simply followed your video series instead of the written instructions, the assembly process would be easier, faster, and likely better.  BUT... I really want the assembly experience to be a practical lesson for him in reading, carefully interpreting, and carrying out the steps.  He's great at this stuff, and absolutely loves assembly projects with quality instructions, so I have no doubt the results will be good either way.  There will still be an impatient part of me that will struggle to stick to that plan knowing that such a great resource is available that we are not using.  Likewise, if I tell him about your video instructions, he'll plead with me to follow your video guide instead of the written instructions too. 😣

I may have to compromise and simply watch each section of your video once or twice  before we go through the written instructions so that I can more easily assist, but stick with my plan of coaching him through the written instructions.

Please understand that I'm incredibly grateful to you for putting this series together, and this whole conundrum theme is my way of saying thank you.  👍
