RE: Original PRUSA MK4 Kit - Full Step-By-Step VIDEO Build Guide
I completely get you.
Personally I would recommend you go through and watch all the videos throughout the build series yourself. This will give you some background knowledge of the entire assembly process - treat it like an overview. Don’t tell your son about it. This way, when it comes to the build your son will follow the written instructions as normal, but should he get stuck at any point you would have a better understanding of what to do etc and can help as and when required.
Your son will see you as even more of a hero than he already does!! Win win all round!! Lol
Either way, thank you for your kind comment and best of luck with the build - enjoy it!!
You have put me in a bit of a conundrum here. I'm expecting delivery of my kit sometime near the end of Sept, early October. One of the things I have been looking forward to is the time that I get to spend with my son, working methodically through the Prusa assembly instructions and watching and encouraging him as he does as much of the assembly as possible.
Now for the conundrum. I made the mistake of watching your first two installments of the instructions. They are incredibly well done, expertly explained, professionally edited, and thoroughly enjoyable to watch even without having the kit in front of me yet. I now know that if we simply followed your video series instead of the written instructions, the assembly process would be easier, faster, and likely better. BUT... I really want the assembly experience to be a practical lesson for him in reading, carefully interpreting, and carrying out the steps. He's great at this stuff, and absolutely loves assembly projects with quality instructions, so I have no doubt the results will be good either way. There will still be an impatient part of me that will struggle to stick to that plan knowing that such a great resource is available that we are not using. Likewise, if I tell him about your video instructions, he'll plead with me to follow your video guide instead of the written instructions too. 😣
I may have to compromise and simply watch each section of your video once or twice before we go through the written instructions so that I can more easily assist, but stick with my plan of coaching him through the written instructions.
Please understand that I'm incredibly grateful to you for putting this series together, and this whole conundrum theme is my way of saying thank you. 👍

Hi Ifti,
What a fantastic video series! I received my mk4 and enclosure this week and I've just started the assembly where I'm reading the manual and then watch the corresponding video bit. I'm now half way the build and already watching the video has prevented me from making multiple mistakes which I would have made if I had just read the manual. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. Speed of the video, the editing, production values, all top notch. Prusa should contact you to make it their official build video!
Many thanks.

Thank you for your comments - exactly how I intended for people to use the videos! Glad they saved you from later frustrations!

Well Done Iftibashir, great set of videos=, good quality video and narration. I used these to help me build my MK4 as well as looking at Steve Build (large format) , TADA small video format like yours but a few errors that were seen and only really mention of the last video , but still helpful and then I looked at your video series.
Well Done sir!
RE: Original PRUSA MK4 Kit - Full Step-By-Step VIDEO Build Guide
Adding my kudos here. I just completed assembling my Mk4 last night, I had the videos open and the assembly manual in another tab (mainly to skim though the comments). The videos were a huge help in getting everything assembled just right.
First self-test passed, and the printer is chugging away!
Thanks so much for the awesome step-by-step guides!
RE:
The printer has now been set up and is working properly. The explanations in the videos were very helpful. If you follow the videos carefully, you don't need the manual at all. Really great!
A small addition would be useful when attaching the power cables to the heated print bed. You indicate that you should first tighten this loosely. But before you put the plastic caps on, they need to be tightened securely. I missed that in the explanation. But that was the only thing I could find.
It's really cool how you made these videos and it's great that you share them with the community. 👍 👍
I don't have the printer yet, but I've already watched the videos. They are very detailed and clear. Very helpful I think besides the assembly guide.
@iftibashir: Thank you for the good work. 👍

Toying with the idea of creating a Mini+ build guide too.......
Or maybe I should cover the MMU3 for the MK4 as well!

MMU for the MK4 please!
I'm now struggling now with the enclosure and I already wished once or twice during the build for a video but one for the MMU3 for the MK4 would certainly be appreciated (if it ever arrives....)

Oh, there is interest! + 1 for enclosure please, having said that I’ll probably have finished mine by the time your build series comes out so I’ll be able to use it to see what I got wrong 🤪

So that is an enclosure for your mini+, mk3s and your Mk4. Yes, this is going to get expensive!

I have ordered a kit yesterday, and am already looking forward to building it, also thanks to your great videos! Can prepare in advance 🙂
RE:
So after Prusa informing me that they wanted to have a phone convo with me to see how they could incorporate my videos onto their platform and build instructions, they kept me on hold for several months with no response - and I see they've now decided to release their own assembly videos instead - with no commentary etc, but still. Could of at least been honest and upfront with me Prusa, considering the work I put in to create the build guide in the first instance!
Nevertheless, on the plus side, good to see all the video comments of how they have helped with tons of new builds!

@iftibashir, what an amazing job. I just ordered my MK4 kit and, waiting to receive it, I have already watched all your videos. I think I will follow the printed instructions (just a matter of personal preference) but I still believe that seeing the whole process beforehand helped me understand the whole picture of what I'm about to get myself into. 😊
I found that you missed some important steps in your videos, though: remember, as the official assembly manual says, "The biggest issue from our experience is inadequate bear consumption." 😄

Thanks. The videos were never meant as a complete replacement for the print instructions - it was more for a a visual look at how to construct the printer beforehand (as you have used) and then an aid to accompany the online instructions. It helps people decide on whether to purchase the kit or the assembled version, whether they feel the kit would be easy enough for them to build, whether they want the hassle, and then as an extra guide to use alongside the official online manual 😉
Saying that, I've had plenty of people tell me they just followed my videos alone and came out with a successful first time build too! It's down to your own personal preference at the end of the day 😉
