Layer Shift Issues
Hi all,
My past few prints have had some pretty bad layer shift issues in the middle (see pics). There doesn't appear to be any staircasing- as seen here- and the layer shift is in the x-axis. This printer is relatively new, and I'm surprised that this issue is popping up already. Does anyone know what could be causing this and how I can prevent it going forward? Thanks.

Edit: The layer shift was in both the x and y axes

The first things to check are - grub/set screws tight on the servo spindle, and belt tightness.
After that, some people claim the USB Key is the culprit (I have difficulty with that theory myself). I'd focus on physical issues, like something blocking the nozzle/print head (even a lump of plastic). Shifting on both X and Y on the same level might indicate this cause rather than the screws/belts...
From your photos I think I see multiple shifts, not just one. Is that correct?

I also find it difficult to believe that the USB key is the cause of these issues. Just before this happened, there was a failed print due to the wrong material in the settings, and I think it's pretty reasonable to believe that some plastic was obstructing motion of the print head. I've also had a few successful prints in a row (granted they were smaller and I slowed the print down), which supports this theory.
Yes, there were multiple shifts! There first was a shift in the x-axis (I believe, but it might've been the y-axis tbh) and then a few layers later it shifted itself back to it's correct position on the x-axis but the y-axis shifted here as well.
