Your Prusameters have expired...
This was last year, but:
"Your Prusameters have expired since you haven't visited Printables in over 12 months. Your last visit was on February 9, 2024."
Sorry if this sounds a bit whiney, but as someone who does his 3D printing hobby in bits and bobs, coming back to it after doing other things, this feels grossly unfair and seems to exist for absolutely no reason. I've lost 40 Prusameters and was looking forward to progressing and making stuff and maybe earning someting back.
Is there a reason for this to be done?
RE: Your Prusameters have expired...
40 meters are easy to earn back, download some models and give feedback after prints with pics.

Ehh, I'm not doing stuff just for the sake of doing stuff

RE: Your Prusameters have expired...
Then why you make this 40 meters a point? You will never make a free roll of filament if you don't for fill the needs for earning the points.
There is a whole point system behind it. And you need to make this otherwise you will not get your free filament

... and the whole Prusameters gamification system is a daft idea in any case as all it does is encourage bad behavior that pollutes the repository with garbage files. You are better off ignoring them.
Cheerio,

...especially if they remove them, which is the whole point of my complaint... 😑

What would be a better system to motivate people to share models, etc?

RE:
The Prusameters are a reward system to encourage people to participate in the Printables website. If you haven't logged into Printables in over two years, I am not sure why you would expect to get a reward for participation in it.
RE: Your Prusameters have expired...
The reward system is appropriate. It encourages people to participate. Otherwise it will stagnate like Thingyverse or any of the other 2nd and 3rd tier sites. Same discussions over on Bambu Labs Forums about the point system in MakerWorld.
RE: Your Prusameters have expired...

I don't think there is a direct motivation. The gamification is a de-motivation.
I started out sharing a few but when the gamification started the flood of garbage around the start of 2022 it didn't seem worth continuing - so I stopped. I think I made one competition entry afterwards, might be more, when I had something suitable ready to go - but you know the entries are not going to be properly tested and the files will be buried afterwards so it's not worth doing a good job even if there was enough time.
You see, to design, test, tweak, retest and so iterate until a project is working well might take months, years even; then the documentation for the project might take as long if you are having people test-build following the instructions, tweaking, retesting and so on ... so If the project is buried under several hundred miss tagged 'coasters' made by bulk downloading a clip-art library or a few hundred AI generated, unprintable and never printed 'action' figures - why bother?
Printables was a useful resource at first but since the 2021 Christmas present it has been a waste of space.
Cheerio,
RE: Your Prusameters have expired...
.. waste of space,.mostly. you can still find useful models, though.
But yea contests started to be not worth it, not enough time, or some of them are repeated and old designs still beat new designs...
See my GitHub and printables.com for some 3d stuff that you may like.

Like this one, tagged as 'Prusa Parts & Upgrades, one of several all with the same, wholly unrelated thumbnail picture, all so-called remixes of other's work although there is no remixing, just a straight theft reposting ... https://www.printables.com/model/1761579-vase
Or this completely unprintable one, https://www.printables.com/model/1761563-mr-water
Or this AI confection (AI not mentioned) tagged as 'Test Models' - I pity any newbie who tried this test https://www.printables.com/model/1761551-straw-man-wizard-of-oz
All of the above uploaded in the last hour or so.

Yes there are maybe ten to twenty thousand really worthwhile files on there - somewhere among 1.3 million examples like those above.
Ar Prusameters transferrable? I've never checked but the OP can have a few of mine if it's possible, I'll never use them.
Cheerio,
RE: Your Prusameters have expired...
Probably for the same reason I don't expect money to disappear from my bank account if I don't spend it after I earn it. Some people are going to do this hobby at different rates, some people are going to have stuff happen in their lives. It seems mean-spirited to me

RE: Your Prusameters have expired...
Yep - I've no desire to cheat or cheese this - just some fairness would be good.
