Yet another request for an option to upgrade our printer's firmware from an SD card.

In common with a lot of prior posts, I feel it would be a good idea if Prusa could make it possible to upgrade their printer firmware from an SD card, instead of obliging us to hook the printer up to a computer running the slicer software.

The whole point of having SD cards is to make it possible for us to put our printers in one part of our building, while keeping our computers in another. This is sensible, because some filaments emit gases which are potentially harmful. The lack of an option to upgrade the firmware via SD card is counter to this philosophy.

So, Josef, could you please ask your team to make this possible? It would be a great idea if we could dump the new firmware onto the usual SD card we're using for prints, and have our printers upgrade from that.

As it stands, lugging laptops around is a PITA for a lot of us, whose fume cupboards are appropriately sited well away from people and their lungs!

For those who suggest that Octoprint might be an option, this would require time, money and effort to  get a wifi signal or network cabling to our printers, which isn't ideal either.

Best wishes and season's greetings.

Dr Chris Kear.

I've mentioned this before and was told that it's a fairly significant hardware limitation that prevents this.
