Which option(s) caused the extruder returning to the left end every a second or so?

Hi, I am printing some stuffs on the right hand side of the sheet. I noticed that every single second or two, the extruder returns to the left and then back to the right. What is happening? Is this good or bad? What can I do to avoid this?

Why the print is so ugly with so many thin lines even I set the extrusion multiplier to 0.92?

Are you using OctoPrint, and particularly the OctoLapse plugin? It causes frequent movement and must be set up properly to avoid problems. If you are new, disconnect OctoPrint until you're familiar with the printer, then add features in one at a time.

Yes, I am using OctoPrint. I have been using it for almost a year without such issues. However, recently I changed some settings in OctoLapse which as you predicted, have caused the issues. After removing it, the printer returned to normal and no going to the left end during print. Why OctoLapse causes frequent movement? How to set it up properly to avoid problems?

Octolapse is, as you must know, a tool for creating timelapse videos of your prints.  One of its default features is that it moves the print head out of the view of the part for each snapshot and takes a snapshot on each layer.   This behavior is configurable in the Octolapse settings (when, where, if).  If the default behavior is not to your liking it is simple to modify.

One tip for using Octolapse and getting consistent results is to make certain that you turn on "verbose G-code" in the PrusaSlicer settings.  This gives the Octolapse plugin a much better "picture" of what the print job is doing.

Steve
