Back in MY day, surviving childhood often entailed scars and trauma inflicted by toys. One of my favorites was my brother's Mattel Vac-U-Form. Nothing says good clean fun like handing a kid an AC-powered appliance to play with molten plastics on. I was surprised to see that raising the price up to $750+ and adding a Q to the name has made this a respectable technology again.
Never mind non-planar printing, let's go make low-resolution copies of crap! Who's with me?

The perversity of using a 3D printer to create flat plastic sheets for use in a glorified Vacuform is strangely appealing,
Say, maybe melting down scrap filament can be used for something worthwhile...

As an owner of one of the original Vac-U-Form devices myself - I am impressed someone has resurrected it for $1,000. It's also pretty cool they kept the vacuum pump manual. Can we expect an Easy-Bake-Oven with a glowing radiant heat source, too? With one of those, we might be able to melt our scraps into blocks or sheets compatible with the Vaquform and avoid the print times.
