Temperature management in enclosure

I have made an enclosure for my mk3 so I can print ASA etc better.  I am concerned the stepper drivers will get to hot so I have a 4pin 40mm fan that ducts outside air onto the stepper drivers.  What temperature should I be aiming at keeping the board at?

Likewise, is there an ideal temperature for the enclosure or is it just the hotter the better for the prints?

Thanks.

I've never seen any issues with stepper drivers, and I'm not venting air.

They move the PSU outside because the extra heat is not good for it and I had heard the Einsy board and the drivers like being kept cool as well.  I have set mine up to have a gentle flow of cool air into the Big Einy Case I printed.  I am still not sure about the best temperature but it is way cooler than the enclosure so it is a big plus.

Afair specs for the motors state they can operate in ambient temperature to about 90C.

If you have PETG parts then those would rather be in danger, not the motors 🙂

See my GitHub and printables.com for some 3d stuff that you may like.

I am not concerned about the stepper motors themselves.  It is the electronics and particularly the motor drivers that concerns me.

Enclosure temperature is more of a factor for the filament.  PLA, you need it cool.  Some you want it hot to help with warping.  On my MK3s I added some heatsinks to the Einsy board on the drivers as recommended by others.  I have had my enclosure to 50 degrees with no issues.

In my workshop, during summer it can get to >35 degrees if I have doors open.  As _KaszpiR_ says, the PETG parts would most likely fail before the electronics.

There are some threads on how to move the Einsy board out of the enclosure.

Thanks for the info on PLA.  I hadn't considers it but I am now creating a profile to cool the home enclosure for PLA.  👍
