Surprising Bed Positioning Error – PrusaSlicer
Hello everyone,
I’ve been using PrusaSlicer for some time now (version 2.9.4), and I’ve encountered an issue when slicing an STL object (a 4-letter text) where the first layer is not sliced correctly. The model was created using Fusion 360.
It looks as if the object is slightly rotated and not completely “resting” on the build plate. I’ve tried to position it using the built-in tool, but it doesn’t work correctly.
This is the STL preview:

And this is how PrusaSlicer slices the first layer, where it doesn’t complete it properly:

I’ve tried to solve it in every possible way but haven’t been successful.
If anyone can take a look, I’d really appreciate it — the error is quite surprising.
You can download the problematic STL from this link.
Thank you very much!
RE: Surprising Bed Positioning Error – PrusaSlicer
I can take a guess with the stl but the only way to be certain is to have your project file from Prusa Slicer. A 3mf project file saved from PS contains not only the object(s) but also all the settings being used, so print, filament and printer. Also any positioning data, modifiers etc. It is a complete snapshot and allows someone to debug an issue much more easily.
That said I loaded in a pretty default profile set for the old Mk3 as you don't mention what printer you are even using (its why we like the project files). When I sliced I too got a similar problem as your picture showed.
Quite simply on my slice it was the Elephants foot setting. A 0.2mm elephants foot is quite common in a lot of profiles, that moves all the extrusions in 0.2mm all around on the first layer. With your geometry that means some parts aren't there to print any more as they are shrunk to nothing. Changing the EP to zero allowed it to slice as modelled.
Now I am not saying that is the problem you are having as with only the stl its impossible to say. The settings are often just as if not more important than the model file in many cases.

Thankss @Neophyl for answer me..
I'm sorry for no comment about the my model of printer, this is homemade is very similar to Prusa MK3s. It would have been a good idea to attach the 3MF project to my previous message.
But you're right: I changed the elephant value to zero and the slice was correct.
Thanks for your help 🙂
