Single Extruder - multicolour & multimaterial

Hello, looking for some assistance regarding printing multicolour but also multimaterial using single extruder.

I know we can do multicolour printing using a single extruder by adding a second extruder in the Printer Settings tab.  What if I want to use different material (PLA & PETG) as well?

Is there a way to change the extruder and bed temp settings post slice in gcode each time there's a colour change?

TIA,

John

n.b. my apologies if this has already been asked and answered.

I have done it by filament changing.  The only other way is the MMU unit or something similar.

Not sure there's an easy way to do that just through custom gcode in Prusaslicer unless your material changes fall on a layer change, in which case you can just add some if-then clauses to the color change custom gcode (or even the layer change gcode) checking for the layer you're at and setting things up accordingly.

If you have material swaps within a layer, you'll probably need to use a text editor and insert a M104 line after each M600 to adjust the temperature.

But in general, I don't think mixing PLA and PETG is going to give you much joy as they may not bond well. Reports seem all over the place on this one. Can't hurt to try, but I wouldn't hold my breath,

Thanks for the responses.  I set the post to solved as I think I may be able to change filaments in the Platter tab under filament menu.  Haven't had time to test this yet.
