Shipping Cost Increase
I've noticed the costs for shipping 2 spools have increased lately, most recently being $15.48 with Fedex to the USA (Alaska). I thought this may have been a one-off, as the Eshop has shipping to the US listed as "~$14" and I know previous orders have been cheaper, however, when I just priced the shipping for 2 more spools, the shipping cost came out to $15.64. Curiously, I looked back at my previous orders and did a basic (yet still overboard lol) trend of shipping costs since last April, realizing that costs have risen 35% from $11.48 to $15.48.
I may be missing the driving force(s) behind the increase (COVID, VAT, etc.) but I was just curious if others have seen similar increases with their shipping costs.

Demand of Shipping services increased dramatically during 2020. And one can say supply of shipping services decreased (wont get into the details here). Anyways, prices increased accordingly.

You think that's bad!
Last shipment of filament to the UK I was about £6 ($8). Had an order in place stopped by Brexit and when they opened it up again shipping was £27 ($38)
Plus VAT on top of that.
Sad to say I'll be propping up Amazons profits instead. Only orders from Prusa will be machine parts if i need them if the printer breaks.

That is unfortunate.

Looks like a good idea. Each big country should have a good filament maker, no need to ship spools in planes. You will find posts on this forum with good providers near you.

I concur. I like the variety of Prusa and Prusament. That being said, there are a bunch in the USA.

USA is a specific case for PLA: NatureWorks makes the plastic in the same country. I can't understand why US users would buy in another country. Prusament PLA is very good, but this is too much travel!
I believe PETG is done in many more countries. I don't know if there is a PETG maker in the UK.

The price breaks have moved on shipping weights. The prices have also risen as per everywhere else 🙁
Just dropping one spool from the order might have been enough to lower the price by, er, I'm not going to look it up right now, it's about £20. Once in the higher bracket it pays to order another half dozen spools to get close to, but not cross, the next price rise point.
Cheerio,

Ouch, I'll count my blessings then! Hope that price drops in due time 😕

Prusament has some pretty cool filaments that are just not available in the US. As for standard PLA and PETG, I can find that local.

Indeed, it's a major difference from what it used to be. I had to pay almost double the price to ship two packages to Canada. But yeah, it was expected though
