Shipping to USA?
I’m in the USA and I’m hesitant to order the new MK4S (or any products from Prusa) when no one can tell me what the final cost would be. Customs, taxes, etc. I’m told you find out after you order it. That’s kind of concerning. Has anyone placed an order for the MK4S KIT, and is shipping it to the USA? If so, can you tell me the international-related costs to ship it to your state?
RE: Shipping to USA?
If your entire order is under $800, there is no customs duty for a 3d printer shipped to the US. Shipping charges are not apparently included in the $800 threshold but I am not certain of that. Someone else should be able to confirm that.
RE: Shipping to USA?
That is correct. I have ordered a MK# and a MK$ and have never paid anything more than the cost of printer + shipping. Keep it under $800 and you are fine. Any spare parts or accessories make a separate order. It won't be held up in customs and it might be cheaper even with the extra shipping charge.
RE: Shipping to USA?
Thank you JimB & Cary. I’m ordering the Kit, so at $799, I just make it.

I learned the hard way NOT to add anything extra, like filament or nozzle. YOU WILL PAY. Two orders are better than one, even with postage.
RE: Shipping to USA?
is based in the US and is part of Prusa now that is an option if you don't want to deal with the import tax
i bout my Prusa 5 years ago i got an email form the shipping company with links on how to pay the import tax i think i was like $50-$80 i could be wrong

Shipment from Prusa -> US of A.
I will post I hope a more direct question. I have ordered a few things from Prusa - zero issue. Last shipment was right before all the fun happened with the changes of tax rates. So recent experience was not bad.
When having a order above the magic threshold DHL would provide a simple link to allow me to pay the duty / fee.
This order is via Fedex - does Fedex have that support or is there a different method?
DHL provided easy payment based on the shipment, sort of wondering if that is the same thing with FedEx.
FYI: Print It Solid does not sell the full line of Prusa hardware...like the Core One I am in the queue to received.
RE:
I've been hesitant to buy as well. The problem is, even when you figure it all out, Prusa can take weeks or months to ship something out, and by then, its possible everything has changed. You could have the bad luck of hitting a tariff that just lasts a few days. Unfortunately that is our political environment today.
But there is good news about it for me. Predicting what a politician who acts like a 6 year-old is going to do has been VERY predictable, and in the financial world, this translates into lots of profits, enough to buy an entire printfarm of XLs, but I chose to spend my profits elsewhere.
RE: Shipping to USA?
Going FedEx was/is a Pain in the Wallet.
But if you are going down that route - submit the paperwork for FedEx import as fast as you can. Sometimes you have to submit it more than once.
If you are "slow" - the there will be a storage if it hits a customs holding location.
I sort of like DHL better; but I do understand that during my buy / shipping schedule import duty costs was changing daily.
RE: Shipping to USA?
Not from the US but in my experience DHL are one of the, if not the, best at handling customs clearance, never had a problem with them delivering internationally. Drawback is that DHL know there's basically no competitor for them when it comes to this and you pay a premium for it. Imo with expensive products it's totally worth it. The only other customs service that worked well for me was from UPS (only had them deliver twice internationally) but their software is so unbelievably bad in my country that I really can't recommend them.
